(Theroy) B6 and the 797

Tue Feb 06, 2018 10:24 pm

Ahh, JetBlue, a nice airline, with a nice fleet. But I have a theory, the 797, if B6 dosent order the A321neoLR, which seems unlikely at this point, as Airbus is going to start Flight Testing soon, but jetblue, as you may know, have a few international routes, to Puerto Rico and sorts. But, if they acquired a 797, they can start flight to places (if it has the 6000Mi range) such as Russia, Turkey, and other places, maybe even Hawaii as a hub and flights to Asia. What do you think, i would like to see your thoughts.

A few things to consider:
1. Most agree the 797 will be around a 200-230 seat aircraft with a 4500nmi range, give or take. Entry into service will not be at least for a decade, considering Boeing has barely begun organizing teams to design the aircraft.
2. At best, we can just be slightly optimistic about not only the state (or even existence) of B6 in 2028, but the state of the commercial air travel market at all in 2028. Will airlines go back to hub-and-spoke, or will more airlines have WN-type route maps? Will oil prices go back up, making flying more expensive and some low cost routes have to be terminated? Even the best economists and analysts can only speculate.
3. Based off their current business model, I don't think they're in any rush to enter into the markets you mentioned. They would rather grow their stronghold on the east coast, perhaps expanding a little more into middle America, rather than suddenly jumping into east Europe and Asia.
Airline growth is more than just adding destinations. A long-term, successful airline will dominate their current niche before rapidly expanding out of their shoes.

Well lets not forget we are a long way from seeing a 797 take to the skies and the situation jetBlue may find themselves in may be completely different. Heck, they may not even exist by the time the 797 comes out! In terms of the East Coast, we will probably see the remainder of routes that jetBlue couldn't serve should it go TATL with an A321neoLR. But of course, we are way off any of this happening, and one could argue that the 797 doesn't offer B6 much more than an A321neoLR. Western Europe is within range from BOS and JFK. Much of South America is within range from FLL. They are the long(ish) haul markets B6 need to focus on. We can all forget about B6 to Asia, so that leaves us with two markets that are within range of the A321neoLR.

I think you need to look up the definition of the word "theory".

Russia and Turkey? Who's their CEO Mike Flynn? In all seriousness I don't think B6 will be around the end of the next decade in their current form, I see them as Part of another airline.

What is this theory that everyone speaks of? I'm still trying to figure out "theroy"?
