I Might Be Crazy

I remember as a kid right after Eastern went under seeing a Delta 757 with a Eastern logo about 8 inches wide on the engine cowling.
That was over 15 years ago so I'm not sure if I really did see this or if it's old age   Any help would be great.

i'm not sure about this..maybe i'm wrong..but i thought that eastern's 757s had rolls royce engines on their 757s and i thought they went to USAir...and i know delta has pratts on their 757s...but maybe i'm wrong...anybody else know?

Yes, EAL 757s had Rolls Royce RB211-535 engines. Also the company went out of business 10 years ago this month, so it wasn't 15 years ago, not that this is important. Those engines were much better than the ones on the earlier L-1011s.

The airplanes went to various places, US Air, Am West, even NASA. None to Delta that I know of.

They were and still are, great airplanes. Could go out of the short runway at LGA nonstop to California no problem.

Any chance it might have been an L1011 that I saw?

Delta did take some L-1011s after the EAL shutdown, but I believe that they all went through the paint shop before service. However, anything is possible. At Farnborough one year, one wag had stuck a US Air Force Air Mobility Command sticker on a Russian SU24 attack aircraft on the rear fuselage, and I thought that it showed a real sense of irony. The Russians must not have noticed it. Maybe an ex-Eastern type did the same thing to Delta. That would have been something to see.

A cursory glance through aircraft registration records shows that indeed at least five L-1011s owned by Delta had previous registration numbers ending with "EA" (which I'm pretty sure was Eastern's).
If you're crazy, then I'm crazy too - I remember seeing the same thing!

Plaine and simple it could not have happened cause the Eastern 757s were indeed powered by the Rolls Royces and Deltas by the P&W's......
