A children's play area at one of the concourses.

A round, flat granite fountain spurts jets of water in a varied pattern.

The exterior.

The 900-foot tunnel from Concourse A to B and C features synchronized lighting effects and music.

The fountain entertains onlookers.

About 20 feet above the mile-long floor of Concourse A, trams will quietly whisk passengers to and from their gates in much less time than it would take to talk.

Metro-area residents explore the terminal.

McDonald's is among the many restaurants that have signed on to feed hungry Northwest passengers.

Would-be passengers board these speedy, roomy trams that will wisk people to and from their gates in much less time than it would take to walk.

Metro-area residents get their first look at the new midfield terminal.
