Airliners Taking Off From Dust Runways!

Sat Dec 13, 2003 7:33 am

I know that Air Namibia used to send it's 747SP to Walvis Bay which only had a dust runway back then. They even published a picture somewhere which was just unbelievable.

Then I think there are some other carriers in India and elsewhere in Africa that still send their airliners to dust runways.

Any pictures in the database or elsewhere? Thanks a lot!

.....not actually a dust runway, just loose dust/sand alongside the runway.
You should see the ones taken of the 747 as it taxied out - well, you can't see the 747 actually as there's too much dust !!!

Best Rgds
