What Is Your Favorite Low Fare Airline And Why?

Sat May 15, 2004 11:40 am

What is your favorite LCLF carrier and why?

My favorite LCLF airline is ATA because:

1) Largest carrier at IND

2) Operates the largest aircraft into MDW (757-300)

3) Operates the longest single aisle aircraft (757-300)

4) Operates the NG 737-800 with winglets

I like Southwest a lot. Reasons I can think of:
NICE new planes.
Winglets on 73G's.
Consistent profit earning.
Friendly crew.
Laid-back boarding procedure. (cattle-call)
Easy booking online.

Drawbacks to Southwest are:
Not-so-nice older planes
Laid-back boarding procedure
I live in Dallas, so due to the Wright amendment, I never get to fly WN unless I am elsewhere in the States.

I also admire AirTran, and anticipate flying that airline someday. AmWest does nothing for me. ATA is one I would like to try- I helped my friend book a ticket on them last October, and they said it was great.

I really enjoy ATA, but I wish it had destinations to Europe. Maybe someday...

Monarch Scheduled (uk) gets my vote everytime because it's a LCC with all the trimmings of a full service airline. Sadly I heard from a previous thread that they will be turning into a ryanair-style airline where you have to pay for the meals etc. Not a good news  Sad

I would have to say that Southwest Air lines is my favorite LCC. I like the ease that all thier staff gives off when you come into contact with them. I also like the easy boarding system and their planes expecially the B737-300.

No question....AirTran.

Reasonable full-fare J that competes with the majors F. Not even to mention the $35 walk up upgrade. Of course the brand new 717s don't hurt either...

AirTran. Hands down.

Love the 717s, the cattle-class fares are dirt cheap and the coach service is better than on AA or DL (in my experience). And they fly to places I actually want/need to go to, I have lots of family in Dallas and Denver. And their website actually makes sense! Most majors' websites are too busy and a lot of LCC websites either try too hard or are too bare-bones to be of any use.

1) Had a great jumpseat ride on them last SUN  Smile

2) Their A320s still have the Dutchbird seating configuration, so their legroom is very large even compared to normal carriers!

3) Nice Blue / Grey leather seats... Stylish!

My favorite is jetBlue Airways. This airline pioneered the concept of low cost carriers also offering a superior coach class product to the competition. jetBlue's coach product is one of the best two coach class products in the United States, rivalled only by the cabins on AA's MRTC-equipped fleet. jetBlue provides comfortable leather seats with PTVs and high-quality IFE, a 32" seat pitch in the front cabin and a superb 35" seat pitch in the aft cabin. jetBlue also has a very chic, modern corporate image, and their aircraft feature one of the best liveries of our time.

At the moment I have to give the nod to Jetsgo, they have many problems ,but they also have LEGROOM! for a small fee. On a long flight this is very important to me as I am taller then average.

My favourite is Pacific Blue as they started flying out of CHC first and also the 738s with winglets is nice in their colours, another reason is that they used a great gate for photos.
