Which Airline Has The Worst Inflight Service?

Sun Jun 06, 2004 8:51 pm

My choice would have to be ASA. Unfortunately, I fly them quite regularly from GPT to ATL (and return). They operate this route normally with a CJ and the flight is around an hour give or take. While this is a one-class flight and they claim to offer beverage service, it sometimes doesn't work out that way.

I have been on several of these flights where the lone flight attendent has served to first six or seven rows and then stops. I have even been on a flight where the FA just sat on her jumpseat infront of the cockpit door and did her nails for most of the flight. Beverage service didn't start until the decent into ATL, and stopped after less than half the cabin was served.

I have also seen however, where there were two beverages served by a very attentive FA. Normally you can consider yourself fortunate to recieve even one, especially when sitting in the back of the aircraft. Good service and an attentive FA are unfortunately the exception rather than the rule at ASA.

I agree that AA and HP are pretty consistently bad. Sadly those are the two carriers I worked for and unfortuntaly spent alot of time on as well so I suffered right along with the crowd.

Why are some of you going tough on HP. I don't really have bad experiences and I almost always fly them! Sure, they use to be bad but maybe some of you are still going tough on them because of prior incidents. HP has been working hard to boost the overall product of the airline and, I have seen great improvement from them so far.

Lately I have flown AA, UA, and HP. My experience is that AA is the worse of the three. My wife worked for AA for 12 years.
It is amazing how the level of service and aircraft condition has declined recently. On a OGG to DFW AA 767 trip last November, the overhead lights didn't work, the movie didn't work. The pax in the row ahead had to borrow a F/As flashlight to read a book. Part way thru the 8 hour flight the FAs were sitting in the galley in the back playing cards.

About the FA playing cards...

You have to give everyone a break sometime. FA cannot constantly be on their toes during the whole flight. That with the poor condition of the aircraft however is inexcusable.

Took a flight with BD (BMI) from BHX to BRU, now it was only a short trip, but still, the FA's were rude, the sandwich, I swear was 3 days old, ask for a drink, forget it, and this was before BMIbaby.

Sucked big time!

For sure AS....
Old nasty F/A's with bad attitudes
One trip with the drink cart in a 3 hour flight... Then to the back they went to talk loudly (about their contract negotiations and how management was expecting too much from them).... Everyone could hear them and most were expecting them to do their job and make another beverage service run... They did not ... even when asked...

Well, I've been getting great service from all the airlines I've been on. The trick about F/As... Give them a genuine smile! That always seems to work for me.

It depends on your idea of "good" inflight service. If you expect a steak and a hot towel then you will always have "bad" inflight service. However, whenever I fly, I expect nothing and usually get something. So, I rarely have bad inflight service. The only thing that I expect is a smile and a hello. But then again thats just me.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
