PTVs: With Or Without?

Wed Jun 16, 2004 7:32 pm

I am quite sure most, if not ALL airlines, have PTVs in their first and business class.

While PTV is a good thing, there are MANY other things to consider such as service quality, food etc. Sure I would love to have PTV but if it doesn't, it won't bother me that much. I normally read a book, a magazine or listen to music.

And some people don't even know how to use them. Also you are not likely to be comfortable since there is a little box in front of you.

There are cons and pros.

Do you choose an airline based on whether or not it has PTVs? I don't! Some people do!

Only if all other factors are equal or very close, such as price, convenience of the service/connection, FF accrual etc. But PTV and other inflight amenities are things I consider.

My window is my PTV and form of entertainment. I don't care about the one in the seatback in front of me or in my biz seat...to watch movies, I wait till I get home.
Regards

Being an anglophone in a strictly francophone country, watching recent movies in the original language is a privilege for me - another reason pic an airline with decent IFE. I love the window too, but flying transatlantic, looking at the waves 40000 feet below gets a little tame.

Some people think that a long haul flight would be boring without PTVs.

In my opinion, while PTV is an excellent product (to me and to the others), it is not a must. I can simply sit down and enjoy the flight, read a book/magazine, listen to music etc etc.

Don't get me wrong! I like PTVs but there are many other things to consider such as food quality, wine, service etc etc.

For me, PTV is taken into account. But not 100%!

Window seat over PTV any day. Don't get me wrong, I like a PTV but if I didnt have one it wouldnt be a huge deal. Service and food are more important to me that PTV, especially service.

I don`t choose airlines based on PTV.
If there is one in front of me it`s ok. If not, I´m happy about the more room for my legs...

So what do you do if there isn't any PTVs? Read a book? Watch a movie?

Don't think it would bother me, never taken a real long flight before or a flight with PTV's for that matter. That will cahnge shortly though I hope, i'll give PTV's ago.

Guess it would be good but probably wouldn't bother me that much.
