Aer Lingus Or BA From JFK-Shannon

Sun Jun 20, 2004 7:47 am

Iam going to be travelling from JFK to Shannon Ireland next March, I was just thinking would it be better to go on BA to LHR then take some other airline to Shannon or just go direct. We are members of the FFP of HP. If we fly BA we get miles (as well as Virgin). However, I have flown BA before (PHX-LHR) and I have always wanted to fly Aer Lingus. I was thinking because they are both from One World, could I book from JFK -Shannon though BA and then get miles though a code share with Aer Lingus? Then I would get miles

Let me help you something about other service from BA or EI. If you can choose with either way from LAX, JFK, BOS - SNN & DUB.

Well if you want direct service to SNN I would go with EI. If you want your mileage I would go with BA, eitherway it's ultimately up to you to make the decision.

Go for BA, especially if you are flying in Economy.

In Y EI now charge for alcoholic drinks and the service has gone dowhill compared to what it used to be. Also, only one of the A330s (EI-DAA) has PTVs in Y.

Flying BA you will have a PTV, great service and free alcoholic drinks. In my opinion the cabins of the 744 and 777 are nicer than the A330.

I too would pick BA... That one A330 with the PTV's that EI has almost never makes an apperance at JFK. Oddly enough, I've seen EI-EWR more than anything else.

But PTVs isnt my rationale- its a lot of miles, and worth the sacrifice of variety to get them. The miles from a single JFK-LON-JFK trip is enough for a domestic F/C upgrade.

BA, from what I hear, is pretty good, though quite hit or miss. I have also heard that EI is almost always a miss. Play it safe and get your miles.

Aer Lingus's service doesn't even compare with British Airways's service. Go with BA  Big grin
