What do you think is the best frequent flyer program concerning quality of airline, amount of miles for free trip, and customer service ... etc.?

For me it will have to be Delta. I fly them a lot, and use the program. I have flown on many trips for free because of the program also. So thats my answer.

Well Aeroflot777 I belong to HP's frequent flyer program and we are sick and tired of the experiences that we have with them. We are looking for a new airline and I was thinking of either American, UAL, or Delta.

Well, I happen to belong to HPs FFP as well, but I have never really had any problems with them (I only fly about once/month, though). If you're really looking to get away from HP and don't want to submit to flying WN, then I would have to say either CO or AA.

MEA's Cedar Miles program was ranked the 2nd best frequent flyer program in the Freddie Awards, not sure what ranked 1st though.....

I believe HP was first in the Freddies.

Sorry, WN is not an option because my family wants to earn miles by the dollar and not get one free ticket for a certain amount of r/w's like on WN. We don't fly enough to make that work.

That's one of the things I like best about HP Flight Fund; I earn miles using my debit card, on long distance, my newspaper subscription, etc. I earn on average 2500 miles / month even if I don't fly. Here in PHX at least, I just don't think that any other FFP can come even close to the ease of earning miles that HP offers.

UAL has the same thing (one mile per dollar and 15,000 miles after you make your first purchase). So.. is UAL good to?

UAL is good, I have just personally found that their prices tend to be a little...non-competitive...out of PHX. Same with Ted. Unless I have someone buying the tickets for me, I cannot afford to travel with any frequency with anyone but HP. Also, UA award travel starts at 25000 miles, while HP starts at 15000 miles. (25000 miles isn't that bad, though...I've seen worse).

Delta's SkyMiles program came under a lot of fire for changes made to it recently. I myself am accumulating SkyMiles but only because they can be used on all three of what US Airway's previous CEO jealously called "The Axis of Evil" (NW+CO+DL), and because they happened to have a rather nice fare last September to NYC, so it made more than a little sense to stick with them...

Good airline overall, especially the flight attendants...but if you're looking for a truly optimal FF program, I'd say avoid Delta. Also, FAs aside, the service on DL lags behind that of Continental in terms of professionality, and AA's MRTC would be a big incentive to join AAdvantage (which was also the industry's first frequent flyer program). United's Mileage Plus plan you might wish to avoid as they're in bankruptcy and still might get liquidated, and the future of their other Star Alliance partner, US Airways, is also rather cloudy...

I am currently under Delta, but I'm switching over to US when I move to North Carolina next month. DL is nearly as convinient for me out of GSO as US (ATL is a little farther than CLT, but DL offers n/s to BOS, LGA, and MCO, which would be my most frequent markets), but SkyMiles is screwed up in my opinion. I would be traveling on L, U, T tickets (bye-bye Y tickets for the Shuttle), so, in effect, I would have to fly 50,000 miles to obtain Silver Medallion. Meanwhile, at US, I can still accrue segments, and I should have enough to get me Silver (I won't renew Gold for this year as it will be too late, and I won't get Silver either, so looks like I'm starting over...) -- I get pretty much the same benefits as an elite at US as I get at DL (check-in, boarding, upgrades), but it's much easier to make, and I'll have worldwide access through the Star Alliance.

I would have switched to AAdvantage, but AA is really inconvinient for me, as I don't feel like driving to CLT or RDU to pick up an AA flight, and connecting in DFW is a little out of the way for someone to go GSO-LGA/BOS.

Interesting--what defines best?
Easiest accumulation rate?
Easiest to cash out?
Program that gives best recognition to those who fly compared to those who buy?
AC had a great program until they changed it a year or so ago. Before they really separated out credit card hounds from fliers in free seat access and service. I found that most programs became a drug I am tired of because of smaller planes, no seat availability or rules that keep changing and I do not understand. I belong to BA's now as my preferred. I can not get an upgrade easily when paying full freight but I get upgrades when travelling on points...go figure.
there is economy class, business class, first class...then Concorde..pure class

NW has ran some pretty good promotions, and I believe that they have the widest "mall" partners. AA is very official, and I kind of like Delta, but I had a pretty bad customer service incident with them: I had to wait nearly eight months to get some miles from a flight, but it was finally taken care of, and done so in about twelve hours and were very nice.
