For many cities, the RJs have replaced mainline jets, not turboprops.
for instance, airlines switched from MD
-80s, 727-200s, 737s, 717s, etc to CRJs and ERJs. RJs have not replaced turboprops in ICT
RJs in some cities now require outside boarding. In PHX
for instance, some HP RJ
gates require you to walk across the ramp, in 110 degree heat.
RJs have no first class.
RJs are being used for some very long flights.
Carry on space is limited on RJs.
