Just to get the topic started...

I was bored on the OMA-PHX flight because its forever, so i played tetris on my phone for about 1 hour of the flight...

I've been told by my dad that when USAir screwed up on a return trip from LaGuardia to PDX, they over booked the flight, and didn't have enough check in staff. This was back in the 80's by the way. Anyway...So instead of checking in the flight poperly...They told everyone with a ticket to just "Get on the plane, and we'll sort the rest out later." So, naturally, everyone and they're uncle with a ticket tried to get on board. I was 2 at the time, and when I saw my dad had to sit several rows away, and I was forced to sit on my mother's lap...I started throwing a fit. The man sitting next to my mother asked if she wanted him to switch seats with my dad... Smile/happy/getting dizzy So yeah, I've been bad on the plane I guess... Smile

When I was four and on my first flight, I cried for 6 hours. (It was a 5 hour flight.) That's the closest to bad that I've ever come.

eh.. I inadvertantly left my cell phone on once. I could've SWORN that I turned it off, but apparently I was mistaken. Because I was bored and just fiddling with everything when I was about 20-30 mins out of SEA when I realized that it was on and I had a signal! I got text messages at 35,000 feet!  Big thumbs up

Other then that, my only "sins" have been bringing my own booze on-board, rather then paying $5 a piece for 'em or whatever. I'd much rather go to the local liquor store and get a bunch of the little bottle for $1 or $2 and mix it with Coke from the F/A.

I know, I know.. I'm very timid and boring.. but *shrug*, what can I say, I'm actually a reasonably polite and well-mannered passenger! lol.

Got totally drunk on BA LGW-PHX a few yrs back and nicked a load of drinks and chocolate from a trolley in First after visiting the cockpit during the flight(way before 9/11 obviously).

Not exactly sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll!

On an airplane? Well in a terminal I could go on for pages. On a plane, hmm...threatened to thorw up all over a pax unless I sat in my seat, he had sat in it and refused to move, 2x booked, and I refused to be reseated to the back of the Aer Lingus 742. Anything else? Once helped restrain a violent passanger, so I was with someone being bad but thats about it for me....no mile high club yet!-Matt in KITH

Flyingbronco -

You're not supposed to have your cell phone on in-flight because of the supposed risk of interference with navigation computers. Even when you're not on a call, your cell phone is constantly sending/receiving signals.

Leaving a cell phone on is not that uncommon, mine has a habit of turning its self on as the buttons are very sensitive, so I flew from Beijing to Heathrow with it on but did not realize till a friend sent me a text to welcome me home as we taxied to our stand. Apart from that I usually wonder around the aircraft at least once and collect any "memorabilia" to remember my flight by, especially the blankets and pillows provided on long haul flights. Nothing that drastic really.

When I was about eight or nine, I discovered the vacant/occupied indicator on the lav doors could also be used to unlock the door from the outside. I must have been bored on one L-1011 flight because I can remember walking down one aisle to the rear of the aircraft where the five lavs are arranged in a semi-circle, and quickly unlocking all five doors from the outside with a Bic pen cap, and then walking back up the other aisle to my seat in the middle section. I was a bad boy!  Laugh out loud

Bad: taking the safety card and nut dish + juice glass.

Good: being a good boy and didn't disturb the f/a other than during meal times.

Well, I have taken pictures of galleys and doors when the FAs said I could not, and I do take safety cards.

I suggest reading some of those FA books ("Plane Insanity" and "Around the World in a Bad Mood"), as they have some good stories. I remember a few "anonymous confessions":
-An FA forgot to arm a door but quietly did it mid-flight
-A roll fell on the floor and the FA still served it
-An FA did not give the F passengers their chocolate-covered strawberries, but rather fed them to other FAs

So, I'm flying from TPA to IAH in a National DC-10, right after the crash at Chicago, and am a wee bit nervous. I'm in no mood for anything out of the ordinary. As I usually sit behind the 1st class bulkhead, 'cause I'm tall, I discover that they have put some bratty kid on the aisle, next to me. Now this little b*stard will not sit still from the moment the seat belt light went off, and the FA's are chasing him all over the place. Up and down the aisles, into 1st class. As he makes his about 300th pass of our aisle, my size 10 Tony Lama boot darts right out, and trips the little turd. He's short, so it's not a long fall, and he's okay, just startled. Kid stands up and starts screaming "That teenager tripped me!", but everybody who SAW me do it claimed, "No! No! He tripped on the carpet!" So, the kid sits down and doesn't move for the rest of the trip.

Later in the flight, one of the FA's offered me, with a knowing wink, "any mixed drink you like. You earned it"
If you don't stand for SOMETHING, you'll fall for ANYTHING.

this is interesting. i've seen many passengers do simple bad things inflight. no one is perfect. even pilots and flight attendants do bad things. masturbation in lavatory a bad thing? (it's a no for Chi Chi LaRue) picking up a passenger from coach class to sit with you in first class a bad thing?

now have you ever been good on the plane? I once cleaned the lavatory floor with paper towels after finishing myself.

What the heck were you doing in there that you had to clean the floor? I understand leaving the washbasin clean for the next passenger, but never heard of this!

I just remembered one time that I turned off my cell phone, and when I went to get it after the flight, it was mysteriously on. I still have not yet figured out what happened.

Never bad as in attitude but bad when it comes to memorabilias.

Got a whole collection at home of BA's First, Club World, Club Europe and KU's First eating ensemble (dish, glass, mug, utensils) the whole thing that makes one's table a restaurant-like table. Needless to say, it took alot of cunning - and some time (4 years) yet got caught just once!

Got caught taking the Club Europe mug (the ones with the pic of London's Big Ben) on a CPH-LHR flight. I grabbed it and slowly allowed my hands towards my backpack only for the crew to pop her head out of the curtain and see me do that!

Needless to say, i was speechless and embarassed. I just froze with the mug barely 5cm away from the damn backpack's opening flap. She bent over, smiled and told me 'Dont worry about it. I've seen people do that countless of times.. Apparently the mug with the London pic is our customer's favourite'.

*Phew* close call - but that ended my collection and made it complete now. it's in it's dedicated display cupboard, with lights inside et al. Very nice addition to my bedroom.

Thanks BABig grin

Like Sleak, I have a selection of memorabilia, principally BA - mugs, blankets etc.

On the good side, I just always try to be super-friendly to the staff and make a point of thanking them when they give good service. I suppose that is just good manners, though!
