Air France Or Aer Lingus To NYC?

Thu Aug 19, 2004 4:58 am

I have to book myself a ticket to JFK; either on Air France via Paris or Aer Lingus via Dublin. I cant make up my mind at the moment.

Which Airline would you choose?
Any comments are appreciated!

Several questions need to be asked:-

1.Are you a member of a particular alliance?
2.Have you flown either before?
3.Does the price vay much between the 2?
4.What sort of a/c do you want/prefer to fly?

Depending upon the answers to those questions, that should decide who you choose - hopefully!

Enjoy whoever you choose.

Rgds

Mark,

Yes I am a Gold Elite with KLM and also with Cathay Pacific, so I will have benefits on both companies. I have flown Air France in the Past, and it was all ok in Y class!... Although no experience on EI.

I either have a choice of an Airbus A340 to EWR on AF or flying An airbus A330 on EI.

The price of both tickets are the same.

Is AF still opperating the 777-300ER on the CDG-JFK run or have they been redeployed? If they are still opperating across the pond, I'd take the brand-new 773ER in a second!!

I'd also check price and departure time for what is the most convienient

The last I heard was that the 773ER was going to NRT only.

Most of Aer Lingus' long-haul flights are full of tourists (read: children) so the service can slack a bit and is certainly not that great to begin with. AF meanwhile has many business people on board, even in economy, so the service should be pretty good, as well as the people.

You take a chance with Aer Lingus and getting a PTV, and at least with AF, if you know what type of plane you are on, you will know what your IFE will be.

I say take AF.
