Who Works For HP Here?

Mon Aug 23, 2004 1:31 am

Just wondering.

No obligation to respond, but I would like to know who's on the ship I'm traveling on.

i don't work @ MEX for AWA. i do work @ PHX for AWA. i work swing-shift on the B-Side/International ramp. PHX-MEX-PHX is HP 173 in & 587 out? During the winter time, there are two round trips, PHX-MEX-PHX? its seems that the flight schedule & aircraft types change seasonally? i remember MEX-PHX was an A320 or A319 in the spring time.

who handles our Ground Ops in MEX? they do a great job of filling up any type of plane that we send them. if we could just get them to put the bag handles out. i assume we send horribly loaded bins to MEX. the few AM shifts that i have worked, i have loaded either, HP 173 or 175 outbound, so i know about pulling bags for passengers, who are not on-board, pulled off the flight for documentation or child-custody issues. nothing like diving into a sea of bags! "it's like looking for a needle in a hay stack."

take it easy

Sorry about going off topic, but hopefully HP will implement RFID for luggage one day. It will make that task far easier.

Well, it seems HP will stick to the B737's for MEX  Sad

who handles our Ground Ops in MEX?

SEAT does. (Ramp handler)

We'll see what happens during december when we miss about 50 bags per flight.

You may be seeing a few aircraft Upgrades (A320) in order to bring those bags. Embargo. Have you ever heard of that? It must be implemented!!!!

we still physically "sign-in" to start & end our shifts here @ PHX Ramp. i don't think AWA has any plans for RFID bag-tags. i admit,as a fellow tech-junkie, RFID is really cool. UPS, FEDEX, Wal-Mart, Target & others are already using RFID. i read in PC World, Mobile PC or Wired, perhaps, that DAL was interested in testing & even deploying RFID technology for baggage, cargo, co-mail & AOG packages. with DAL's down-turn financially, RFID is most likely wishful thinking. the efficiency of RFID would reap all types of positive benefits for AWA. but, long-term planning is certainly not part of AWA's thought-process.

thank you for the info. SEAT, that is the name of the Ground Crew that we contract @ MEX?

Former America West Airlines employee here.

@ CMH as station auditor. Worked with 4 ladies and no man in a small restricted office.

CMH HP flights went down from roughly 50 flights a day to 4 flights a day.

I almost worked for HP in New York City as a ticket agent but didnn't want to move doen there. I currently just started working for Northwest as a flight attendant, the job I've been waiting for for 4 years! I fly out of Detroit-Metro.

Tarantine,
Place your cursor of the HP and you will have your answer.

My father works for HP. He is an original employee that started with the airline on the first day. They had 3 737s and flew to about 6 cities.

ONT FSA here. I won't be here for much longer though; only a week or so before I leave for DX school.

Golden Shield

How's it going? Do you work for AWA @ ONT? If so, do you know Kimmo or Ted Harrison? I worked the CO contract with them here @ PHX. Will you be attending Dispatchers training? ONT station is one of AWA's most senior stations. Take it easy.

Thanks

For the next week, I will be working for them. I believe I've seen them around, but never really talked with them. I work cargo, so I don't see the PSR's that often.

I will be attending training in TUS. HP no longer has dispatch assistants, so that means that I must leave the company.

Even though the station is senior, after four years, I ended up right smack dab in the middle of the seniority list. Heck, of the top 20 agents at the station, 12/14 cargo agents were there; of course, this changed after we lost the CO contract to DL.

Goldenshield,

Make sure you get in touch with, Joe aka "Flyboyaz." He works AWA Pax Services @ TUS. At least you will know someone there. Tucson is really laid-back! More diverse than Phoenix, not as many "cookie-cuter" housing plans. It will be a nice change of pace for you. Tucson doesn't have the horrible smog, that the LA Basin endures. Phoenix has terrrible air, too! Too bad you have to leave AWA, but best of luck on the new career.
