Sunday Fun: Most Indirect Route With Same Airline!

Sun Sep 19, 2004 11:03 pm

Using the same airline, or subsidiaries of the same airline (eg BA and Loganair, or Delta and DeltaConnection), find a route between two airports with the most number of flights, but which is the most direct route between those airports. For example, LON-NYC on BA is valid but LON-MAN-NYC on BA is not because there is a more direct option on the same airline Count each stopover as a seperate flight. Codeshares don't count.

Best I can find is:
QF32 LHR-SIN
QF32 SIN-SYD
QF556 SYD-BNE
QF2542 BNE-RMA
QF2542 RMA-CTL
I thought there was a QF feeder flight from MAN which would make this 6 flights, but can't find it.

Any better?

Okay, find the most direct routing between any two airports, but which takes a large number of flights to do so. The example given is the most direct routing possible (at least, on the date I selected). Many trips in the world can be done in just 3 flights (regional to hub, then hub to hub, hub to regional aiport) but the smaller airports away from the hubs may involve more changes.

Hope that explains things a little better!
