Boeing 757-200. Nothing can match that power (well, maybe a fighter jet). Big grin

Well, it will be of course.....Concorde!! Its a shame no longer flying though.

I had the experience of take-off in one of those and it was like sitting in a racing car.

I agree with the 1-11...tremendous kick. I talked with a pilot of one of those once while in flight, and he told me he had passed up opportunities to upgrade to a larger jet because he loved the 1-11...more like a fighter jet on takeoff. Too bad it's not possible to experience one of these takeoffs any longer!

This choice also sort of dates us, as it's been quite a few years since you could ride a 1-11 in the States - I think maybe the former Cascade Airlines in the Pacific Northwest may have been the last ones flying, and that was in the early 80's, I believe.
Those who want to do something will find a way; those who don't will find an excuse.

It has to be the 757 for me (particularly the Pratt & Whitney engined variants), when they go up, they go UP!

From personal experience I'd say the Q400. That thing has some kick!
All other times, it has to be Concorde.  Smile You don't need to fly it to know.

I have to say, the 737-400/757-200/A330-200 all have wonderful take offs.

But for leisurely and cool take offs, I have to say that I loved my 747-400 rides for this very reason!  Smile

My A340-300 ride from LAX at night was awesome, it seemed to make a lot of whining, which is kinda cool. But It wasn't as good as the aforementioned aircraft(s)!

It's a shame that I never got to experience Concorde in her glory  Sad Sadly missed indeed.

Cheers,

The Saab 340 has a great powerful climb out.

I was flying in one last month to and from KOI and it was really high by the time it got to the other end of the runway, and it was a full load also.

Defintiely 752 for all around take off performance.
MD-11 with a full load is the most powerful tri-engine.
747-400 or 747SP or short flights.

That's funny! I was asking myself the same thing yesterday when I was watching a Martinair Cargo MD-11 rocketing itself into the sky yesterday while I was working at the ramp at AMS. I was very impressed. Although I've seen it thousands of times before and always loved the take-off of this beautiful a/c anyway, this take-off was different, it was a very steep climb. I guess without pax the take-off is different.
So the MD-11 it is together with the MD-80 and F100.

Kind regards,
Sander

Well, as much as I love everything about the 777, I do tend to dribble when I watch a 757 on full power taking off!

The climb rate is just breathtaking!

I agree w/ FriendlySkies: 757-200, no doubt.

Other honorable mentions are MD-80s and A320s.

Concorde. As said before. Race car. And when they announce seconds before the reheats come on-"prepare for the most exciting take off in civil aviation". Yup It was.
but watching a fully loaded 747 heading for Asia leave Heathrow...wow...get up there baby..the size, power and wings bending....cool

Anything with a thrust to weight ratio greater than unity (1:1). Unfortunately, this is still limited to certain pieces of military hardware.  Big grin

MD-11 and the DC-9/MD-80 Series. Love those planes. Also I liked the Concorde very much, when it took off. In the inside it always reminded me of sitting on a volcano, amazing acceleration.

For airliners it has to be Concorde by a longway.

Military I can't decide between the Harrier, the Vulcan or the B-52

And I'm always impressed when I'm in sitting in my Cherokee and cleared to "pos&hold, caution wake turbulence, departing Citation"

For me it has to be the BAe146 - those planes seem to just leap off the runway and into the air at a moment's notice, none of that "slow, graceful" nonsense!

I am really surprised that only a few mentioned Concorde has the best takeoff. Those 4 Olympus engines with afterburners sure beat your normal standard airliners.

From outside? A fully laden 744 looks great, especially when rotating, when the wing flexes. The A346 also looks really great, because of its long fuselage!

From inside? A 772 will just throw your head to the headrests, especially when the A/C is half-laden, it will just accelerate like crazy!! I wonder what the A380 or the 773ER feels like though...

AK

Talking about airliners, then it must be a Britten-Normann Islander. Just jumps into the air like a hot air balloon.

Otherwise it's of course the Space Shuttle.
