What Airport Is This?

Wed Sep 29, 2004 10:25 am

Last week I was flying from EWR to LAX. Saw this airport out of the window and took a picture.

Just curious what airport is it?

Thanks.

I notice that on the bottom of the picture linked on the first post, there is a highway that seems to have an exit at the left. Then the exit seems to end or more likely it looks like it enters a tunnel or underpass. I don't see it exit anywhere. Anybody from Indianapolis have an idea what it is?

That dead-end highway must be the future access to the future between-runways terminal?

Definately the access point for the mid-field terminal. You can also see the grading being done in the middle of the picture.

This photo was recently taken. The interstate at the bottom of the photo is I-70. The interstate is in the process of being moved south to give FedEx more space (part of the new interstate is already being used for traffic). The exit (still under construction) is in fact the new access to the new midfield terminal complex. You can see the new tower being constructed. The tower is going to be close to 300 feet AGL. The tower has to be operational before they can start upward construction of the new terminal (so they will be able to see the entire field) because the new terminal is going to be fairly tall. It has been pretty exciting watching the construction.  Big thumbs up Seems like it has been a long time and the have a long time left before they are done.
