Thu Sep 30, 2004 12:16 am

Hey,

in My Opinion:

The Best: Difficult To Decide
The Worst: www.aireuropa.com (UX)

Any opinions would be interesting,
Cheers

Nice to welcome another South West England A net member!  Big thumbs up

Best in my mind is easyjet, clear and well laid out,
Worst, any website that does not list prices for the flights they offer, so infuriating!

Cheers,

Any airline website that doesn't allow you to book on-line classifies as a "Worst" to me.

Conversely, most legacy websites are pretty good.

I don't care much for interactive Flash sites. Give me a fast-loading websitre with pertinent info and the ability to book on-line and I'll be happy. Big thumbs up

Ahhhhh EXT was my 'local' airport for about 20 years!

I really like websites which are very easy to use and which aren't full of annoying and unnecessary graphics and suchlike. FR's and U2's sites are, in my opinion, very user-friendly.

The best is easyJet as it's easy to use.
Air Scandic is the winner for worst, hands down.

I have not actually bought anything off an airline website, but I have to say that by browsing the best would be Freedom Air, Easyjet, Air New Zealand or Singapore Airlines. These are very easy to navigate.
I am not sure about the worst though.

I haven't desided the best, but the worst would be:
LACSA

It's just one freakin' page!

Just how basic can you get?!!!

Turkmenistan Airlines is a fantastic and very funny airline though.

That Turkmenistan site is pretty impressive!!

To answer your question, do you judge an airline website by the information it gives or the ability to book tickets etc on line?

Obviously in the latter case the LCCs like Ryanair and easyJet have an advantage but ba.com and qantas.co.uk are very user friendly. In the former case web sites such as Emirates and Qatar Airways are impressive.

The worst site that I have experienced is Air France's UK web site. Some of the flight schedules do not even come up and when I asked how I could fly from London to Strasbourg it gave me a flight via Madrid, changing three times, taking 11.5 hours and costing over GBP 600! I am not impressed by the websites of the major American carriers either.

I agree with the others - easyjet is very easy to use - but so are the likes of BA and VS.

The worst for me is bmibaby. They have improved it slightly recently but I still find it awful - www.bmibaby.com

The worst website is probably Turkmenistan Airways. Of the Big 6 US majors, Delta probably has the worst website, a rather ugly affair that's not at all enjoyable to use. US Airways also has an ugly website, but it's also very easy to use and US Airways has been progressively updating its functionality. Hopefully when their finances get in order they'll be able to give it a visual redesign that is more harmonious with their branding. I'd say AA has the best website of the Big 6, with jetBlue probably having the best website overall.

The best website of any airline I've seen is, frustratingly enough, that of Air Canada. JAL also has a rather enjoyable website.
