What Movie Would You Prefer To See On A Flight?

Mon Oct 18, 2004 10:00 am

One that has not been shown or that you've seen. Doesn't have to be about planes.

Langoliers, Air Force One, Ghostbusters? Big grin

Well, I always taught about getting a complete "24" day on the longest trips (LHR-SYD) or on the SQ SIN-EWR.

However, the complete 12 hours lord of the rings trilogy would be a nice choice for 12/15 hours long loooooong flights !

I remember seeing "Titanic" on a cruise. Fortunately, there's no Icebergs on Mediterranean sea !
coz I'm leaving on a jetplane !

Langoliers is a Steven King film about a plane that goes to another dimesion because it flew thru the Aurora Borealis. Everybody who was awake when it went thru disappeared, everyone who was asleep, stayed on the flight. The only thing is, the dimension they went to is old and stale and waiting to be eaten up by the langoliers...which eventually come! You'll have to watch the movie to see what happens. Only problem is, you'd have to fly around the world a couple times in a Sopwith Camel in order to watch the whole thing.

Anyway my pick would be:
  • Bourne Identity
  • Bourne Supremacy
  • Airplane
  • The Day After Tomorrow (haven't seen it, but it looks cool)

Oh, I think Ive seen that film about six years ago, if I remember rightly. Do they fly in a 727-200 of an airline called "American Pride"? I remember this, because of the aircraft type. The film was quite amusing, must say.

The plane in Langoliers was an L-1011, don't know the version, I have it recorded on tape, prolly threw it away by now... Sad

I haven't seen the last LOTR. I wouldn't mind The Starwars trilogy or the Jurrasic Park trilogy or the Matrix trilogy, golly I didn't know I knew so many trilogies. Big grin

Godfather was a three-parter too huh? Haven't seent them yet.

Tears jerkers on planes suck, I saw Joyluck Club on a Korean Air flight in 1994 to Seoul, S.K. Good movie though.

The Day After Tomorrow (haven't seen it, but it looks cool)

Funny you should say that, 'cause I just saw that movie on a plane.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Airplane would be a good one to see on a plane, but it's not really the type of film that airlines would want to show.

Actually, "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" would get my vote. It's a very captivating film... you can't help but watch it. And for me, a movie like that makes a 7 hour flight from Singapore to Tokyo go by very quickly.

"Airplane" is a great movie, and Iwould probably watch it on my own computer on a flight, but I think with all the political corectness in the world today, some passengers would get offended if they showed that in the main cabin, right?

Not sure about movies... But I could do with a few Sopranos episodes on a long flight!  Big thumbs up

But if I had to choose a movie I would go for "Casino" or some mob film!  Smile

I am not much of a movie goer, usually I wait for films to come on HBO so I get to see films on flights I wouldn't see till much later. To me, I would prefer a firm that doesn't need to be heavily censored for flight use, that is one I wouldn't mind a child seeing or if censored, doesn't lose it's storyline. I would prefer a popular or entertaining humorous or action film. On a recent CO flight SEA-EWR, had Shrek 2, which while not to me as good as the first film, and probably slightly censored for airline use, it would be an excellent example of what I prefer to see on a flight. I don't like kiddie or horror type films on flights. I also don't want 'chick flicks' on a flight either, unless the women in the film is highly attractive. I also don't want to see some box office stink bomb on a flight.

The "airline" edition of Day After Tomorrow was editted.

the approach into New York with the severe turbulence was cut at the scene where the plane REALLY got tossed around, where the o2 masks dropped.

And the scenes showing the airplane crashes prompting the FAA flight grounding were also cut. I imagine these were cut due to the fact that they were actual news clips of actual airplane crashes ...

Oddly enough, the LA reporter getting whacked by the flying piece of building was left in ...
