Prez & Aviation, Who/why?

Tue Oct 19, 2004 3:52 pm

OK, before your fingers start flying over the keyboard, please read my entire post.

Back in 1992 I spent alot of time at my local FBO, flying almost daily. The vast majority of private pilots, if not all of them, were a pretty conservative group. They felt that if Clinton was elected, it would spell the end of private aviation as we knew it, and they were very outspoken about it.

Fast forward to 2004. It seems that the majority of the posters on (to me anyway) seem to be more liberal/pro-Kerry. I'm curious as to why, if in fact this is the case. Politics and civil aviation is always an election year issue with me, so I would love to read replies, but PLEASE, can we avoid turning this into a flame war and insult fest? Since this is an aviation forum, how about the next president and the future of aviation comments/opinions? I think that most a.netters are a pretty bright bunch, so how about some honest opinions on what your candidate means to US in the flying community.

Plase try to avoid the canned sound bites (flip-flopper/war-monger) and share your own honest feelings on the topic. And above all, please please please try to keep it civil and respect everyone's right to have differing opinions while engaging in constructive debate.

Thanks for reading and let's go!

Well one reson there are more Kerry fans on Anet is because there are alot of International members from all over the world.
I like Bush but I really dont see anything either will do for Aviation much.
Kerry has his Commercial Lincense. And bush was a fighter pilot.

The best outcome of your election would be a president/government untertaking every effort to reduce the huge deficit in order to stimulate world economics and bring back the US Dollar to a normal exchange rate.
Such stimulation could mean a lot for commercial aviation.

So indirect the proper decision which of the 2 persons in question should be president is also a decision in favour or against the aviation + airtransport industry.
