Why Choose CO Over SK?

Wed Oct 20, 2004 11:35 pm

So both carriers have their ups and downs. What reasons do I have to chosse either carrier on the ARN-EWR route? Can we compare them somehow?

Don't concider the FFPs you get with skyteam and STAR.

Aircraft type + -?
Flying times +-?
Service +-?
Connections and so on.

Mischa.

Only because of the price.I don't see how CO could have better service on their 757 than SAS on A330. SAS has a really great service on transatlantic routes.

I've heard CO isn't offering a meal service in either class, are they?

I would choose based on price.

Well--FF miles is the main reason and the opportunity to connect in EWR to more places than Star Alliance is the main reason. If you negate those and simply look at a traveller that is O&D and not a FF member--then you'd have to go with SAS for better service.

What does service has to do with the aircraft type?

Maybe FA's are in a better mood on a widebody where they have more space to move around...  Big grin

CO will definately have food. They even have food on US domestics over 2.5 hours if they are at meal times. They have the cheapest catering costs in the industry because their catering is in house, not contracted out.

There will be food on CO...I can't count the number of times I've nodded off to the rhythmic chant of "Chicken or Beef" somewhere over the atlantic on one of CO's 752's

I say SK because typically US carriers trail in service levels. Continentals service is slightly above average for the 'legacy' carriers. I haven't flown on SAS so I can't comment on their service, the only foreign carriers I've flown are Swissair and the old BalairCTA.

I think CO will target the US market for trips to Stockholm with there hub at EWR. SK use ORD as main hub in US with onwards connections with United. T

One big group of pax will be cruise pax wish start there cruises in Stockholm.

You may fly CO anytime in the U.S. but flying Scandinavian across the Pond would truly be worth any extra expense! See if you can connect through Copenhagen, if allowed, to give you a chance to visit another airport and experience a SAS MD-80/737 type aswell!

Good luck!

There is no such aircraft as a 757ER.

Most important: Free drinks..... Imagine buying 6 beers for 5 dollar each.....

SK maybe hasn't many connections to offer in EWR, but how about CO in ARN?
SK can offer connections to almost every place in Europe, and a few Asian destinations.

For me, when I pay a transatlantic fare, I don't want to pay for a beer, when my neighbour gets his coke for free. That pisses me off! I hate it when other persons decide what I should eat and drink.... Why not sell me the same ticket for 30 dollar more and let me enjoy my glass of wine with dinner and a beer later on in the flight?

Solnabo,

or is it because you are biased and hate Boeing, as well as America and all American companies ? By the way, there are no such thing as a 757ER.

CO will be picking up customers from States side and take them to CPH. Let us also not forget about their corporate customers that will be buying C tickets (with discounts but still higher price than the Y folks).
I just hope that there will be more legroom than 31 inches in 3rd class.

But given a choise, I 'd go with SAS hands down. Widebody and free drinks makes a lot of difference.. Not to mention lots of Scandinavian beauties to serve me  Smile

I don't think that CO will be taking many people to CPH when SK offers nonstop service from EWR to CPH. If CO starts EWR-CPH, which has been rumored, then possibly, but otherwise, I doubt there would be many (if any) pax flying to ARN just to connect to CPH.
