EK Europe - DXB

Thu Oct 28, 2004 6:14 pm

I am planning an EK-flight late in November for a tour to Dubai.

Which aircraft type in the EK fleet is recommended?

A332 from FRA
B772 from CDG
B773 from LHR

Any difference in seat? IFE?

I think that 772s and 773s have the same IFE.
Maybe the Airbuses have different systems but they should offer the same high value product.
As far as I know, the Boeings have a 3-4-3 configuration which might be slightly uncofortable in terms of seat width but I have always heard of very generous seat picth. The Airbuses should have a more common 2-4-2 conf.
Have a look at the general EK website, it is very well done and rich of infos.
Where are you flying from? EK has a good selection of flights from Rome and Milan too, all operated with 777-300s

I have flown on their A332 and B772 atleast in economy class there is not much diff in their IFE but the seats are much better on their 772s so atleast for a 6-7hrs flight i would recommend their 772 or you could try their 773-but it will be a full flight as normally their LHR services are packed to capacity

Flown on EK's A330, 772 and 773 and comfort wise the cabin on the A330 was slightly better with its 2-4-2 config compared to the 777 with 3-4-3 10 abreast, however the 777-300 is just a great aircraft in my opinion. Whichever aircraft type you fly i'm sure you'll have a great flight with Emirates.

Flew on both A330 and B777 (200 I think). Some people say the seats are narrower on the 777 in order to fit 10 abreast, but as I proved in another thread, we're only talking about half an inch (12mm for our metric friends). Which, incidentally, is only about quarter an inch (6mm) narrower than BA's seat.

IFE was identical on both.

If you can, try both Airbus and Boeing. One of the Heathrow departures appears to be an A330.

I loved their A330s, they were very comfortable. I haven't had a chance to fly on their 777 though, so I can't give you feedback on that, but their A330s are definatley a pleasure to fly on.

I have flown on both EK A330 and B772 economy, and theres not much to choose between them.

When i flew, B772 was a little more roomy, but the seats were great. A330 seats are also very good, though i found the ride on the b772 more comfortable.

However, the PTV's on A330 are better than the B772. They had a sharper screen on the A330. B772 PTV is a little bigger, but also a little less sharp.

Well, this was 2 years ago, so i'm not certain of todays standards, but EK is always high quality for this sort of thing, so you can't lose either way.
