Which United Express Carrier Has The Best F Class

Mon Nov 01, 2004 10:36 am

Anyone know who has the best service on United Express? I've flown Mesa's CRJ-700.....great seats but the service left a little to be desired. So, who has the scoop?

I'd imagine it will be the Republic E170 F service. Chautauqua is known for having excellent service, and Republic is owned by the same company as Chautauqua.

Unless United is paying for upgraded service, it will be nothing but a seat. Since United is cheap, I would guess no upgrade on service. Horizon is all first class, but at a coach price. Free beer/wine to all, leather seats and a Wall Street Journal in the morning. Now that's service.

United has more important things to worry about than upgrading service on it's RJs. And don't use the frequent flier excuse, the RJ's fly short enough segments, and there is still some service. United would have to pay for upgraded service across the board for UAX operators. That's six airlines and god knows how many flights....it wouldn't be cost effective to do.

Apparently the Republic E170s have an oven installed in the front galley and they will be serving meals, cold ones at first I hear, on some of the longer legs to First customers as demanded by United.

If UA is cutting back service they are saving money somewhere....are they really willing to lose passengers who are paying the high prices due to the lack of or sorry service??? I would hope they are not willing to allow service to become nothing but a drink and those terrible little pretzel bags. ORD-RDU is long enough to have some sort of nice snack service...even if it's buy on board!

UA is finding a balance that will please high revenue pax and remain cost effective. They have been focusing mostly on international service, since that's where the money is. Domestic F class, for the states, is still nice. If what JAXpax says is true, they are obviously trying to keep their frequent fliers happy while saving money on operations and labor.
