LCCs In Australia

Fri Nov 19, 2004 1:51 am

Hi all, I'm going to Australia in february and would like to experience a flight with a LCC when I'm there... I've checked that Jetstar and Virgin Blue sometimes offer the same fare for a SYD-MEL flight, what carrier would you choose ? Any other option ?

Regards.

I would definitely choose Jetstar over Virgin Blue. They seem like a great airline!  Smile

The Jetstar Fleet

Jetstar is an all economy service with a fleet of fourteen 717 aircraft. From July 2004 our new Airbus A320s commence service, by mid 2006 we will have a fleet of twenty three A320s with an all economy cabin.

Seating

Jetstar's seat pitch is 30 inches. The new Airbus A320s feature all leather slim-line seats with 1 inch of extra width providing additional space and comfort. You won't find any Economy seats in Australia wider and more comfortable.

Inflight Refreshments

Passengers who would like a drink or snack inflight can purchase refreshments on board. Our selection includes fresh sandwiches, snacks, confectionery, soft drinks, fruit juices, beer, wine and spirits. Tea and coffee can also be purchased.

Please note that only alcohol, which has been purchased from the cabin crew, is permitted to be consumed on board. Product range may differ between flights, depending on flight length and time of departure.

Entertainment

Jetstar's inflight audio entertainment offers passengers a choice of 8 programs which will entertain you during your journey. New age, re-usable headsets are available for purchase on board for just $3. Jetstar also offers an inflight magazine which will keep you entertained while providing great travel tips.

Virgin Blue  Big thumbs up

It definitely got some cute FAs!! But I may be biased because they have an all-Boeing fleet  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

But then you may also want to take note that Jetstar doesn't really fly SYD-MEL!! What the airline puts as "MELBOURNE" is indeed AVV, where is rougly an hour ride from the CBD. That shall cost you $90 in a taxi.

Or else, JQ is a fantastic airline to fly with.

Thanks for the info, CXoneWorld !
I didn't know AVV was so far from the city, I will meet a friend when I arrive in Melbourne but I guess he will surely prefer to pick me up at MEL  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
Thanks again.
