Loyalty Miles Or Tier: Which Is More Important?

Thu Nov 18, 2004 8:08 pm

If you are a member of a loyalty scheme, such as the Executive Club, which is more important to you: earning more miles (to get free flights/ upgrades etc), or maintaining your tier level?

Both Big grin
I've got several hundred thousand miles and counting and BA Silver since joining the EC a couple of years back

You can never have enough miles though they won't get you out of trouble when shit hits the fan. On the same token tier points won't get you two F tickets to South Africa for less than £200

Miles equal status with your favorite(s) airline(s). I have found they will indeed at least 'assist' in getting you out of trouble. My preferred carriers will see the VVFF status when/if there is a cancellation, and most often 'exceed expectations' in getting me rebooked, and probably in F or J. Loyalty pays.
