McDonnell Douglas launched the DC-9-80 (MD-80) with orders from Swissair and Austrian. Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) was the American launch customer for the type.

There was an airline in the early 80's that leased two MD-80 aircraft from Hawaiian Air. It was called American International Airways (not to be confused with the Connie Kalitta cargo outfit). The picture WidgetBoi included of the Hawaiian MD-80 with the dark fuselage was one of the two leased to AIA. Here is a photo of the other, complete with tail emblem:
