Best Seat To Book On A Dash 8-300

Sat Dec 04, 2004 5:30 am

Hi,

I've never flown on a Dash 8-300 before. I just booked a flight YQG - YYZ on AC Jazz, and I was wondering what the best seat in the house is? (Except the Cpt. or F/O)  Smile

Thanks for your help,

Vio

Had my first Dash 8-300 flight in September with BA Citiexpress. Got seat 12A (window seat, naturally!) which was just behind the wing so didn't get an engine blocking the view whilst on the ground. Was also excellent for seeing the main undercarriage retracted after take-off and then lowered for landing.

The aircraft I flew on had the NVS system so noise and vibration were low and it was a very enjoyable and comfortable flight. I'm something of a fan of the Dash 8 now.  Smile

I'm sure you'll enjoy your flight.

For noise, it is better to sit near the back. The noisiest are right in line with props. Be aware that row 1 could be aft facing, if you are on a -311, versus a -301. Personally, for such a small and lightweight seat, I find them quite comfortable. The seat back curve must match my spine nicely!

Personally I think somewhere around this spot would be an interesting place to sit  Smile

Personally I go for 2D every time, certainly on the 311 it has the best legroom I have ever had, couldn`t touch the seats in front and I`m 6ft tall! The two seats in row one also have this legroom but as Avt007 said, they face backwards.

Row 11 is the emergency exit row, more leg room and good views of the scenery plus the wing/flaps/landing gear.

BTW, that landing gear is on a -311. Great shot!
