Shows You Would Want To See On A Comm.Avi. Channel

Sat Dec 18, 2004 3:26 pm

Greetings everyone. With there being two post on the transformation of Discovery Wings Channel to the Military Channel, I just wanted to see how you would react to this proposal. Lets just say, the owners of Airliners.net suddenly became super rich or something and decided to start their own commerical aviation television channel in the United States, Canada, the European Continent, Japan, South Pacific, and Africa. Now lets say they decide to name the channel "Airliners.net TV." Also, lets just assume that no problems with security or anything arise (so please no responses like "they wont allow this, wont allow that") Now here's a couple questions for you:

1. Do you want to see the same programming as your counterparts across the world or do you want it to be regional?

2. What type of shows do you want to see? (i. e.: talk shows, reality shows, documentaries, movies, news shows, etc.)

3. Who would you like to anchor shows?

Alright, here's my response:

1. same as counterparts around the world

2. talk shows, documentaries, news shows, live cameras on airport landings/takeoffs/gates, weekly show on the website

3. anyone who I can understand

Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story

Yanksn4: Nice topic  Smile

"Here are the votes from the Holte-jury:"

  1. Worldwide for sure.
  2. The entire range of programs. Aviation is a spacy subject and different journalists/persons will tell things their way. Sooner or later I hope we will see programs making use of the internet at the same time.
  3. Anyone who can make a good show.

Yanksn4 - what about the transfer of the signal? Traditional television (by air, cable and/or satellite) or streaming on the internet?
A.net is based on the net, so a netbased TV-station is what I prefer.

Video-on-demand would be very nice so that the programs will be available at all times. Video-on-demand in will make regional programs available all over the world.
Since Discovery Wings have problems getting the attention (and the money) of a lot of people, the traditional ways of delivering the signal could be too expensive.

BTW: I am more of a net person, than a TV person. I do not own a TV set! If God can accept it to be that way, I very much would like to update my ADSL internet-connection (512/128) to a 747, 767, 777, MD-11, 330 or a 340 connection. A true wireless and airborne broadband solution  Nuts

i remember a programme called diamonds in the sky it was shown in the uk god about 25 years ago,i only saw one episode and it was about CP AIR from what i can recall it documented the airline from the 50s up to the present day then and it followed the airline fleet and crews. So i would love for that show to be re-run that would bring lots of good memories.
If anyone knows where i might be able to get video's / dvds of this show i would love to know. But i guess i would not be able to get it.
