Probably they won't post it.
Opinions from people who have not flown on the aircraft are irrelevant anyways. And (most likely) childish comments are just, well...even more irrelevant.  Wink/being sarcastic

Wow, they indeed posted it! But Fred was very diplomatic...is that the same Fred we know?  Wink/being sarcastic

Anyways, from a passenger point of view it's just relevant whether the aircraft offers a safe, smooth, comfortable flight - the poll shows it. And the majority seems to be convinced about these qualities of the aircraft.
Though, the A340 classic still is a "Staubsauger"...  Wink/being sarcastic

I dont really like the A340, altough i have never been on a -500 oor -600.
i think i should try them someday.

i just been on a 340-300 LH, and i didnt like it at all. not much space, tight airplane and forf me it looks like a mixture of a medium and long haul jet.

but maybe it was just LH, i maybe should try 340´s also on other airlines.

Sonyericson,

Maybe the 500s or 600s are a marked improvemnt over the 300s. I fly LH to Asia on the the A340-600 about every 6 weeks or so and this is the best longhaul experience I have had in the last three years. Comparisons being AA 767s betwen th US and Europe and BA in 777s, again, over the north Atlantic. On company business, anything over 5 hours is Business Class for me, so if you have been in economy, my comments might not be particularly relevant to you.

Curiously, I did not enjoy the BA777 because the seat was too big for me- in some positions my feet couldn't comfortably touch the ground!

Cheers

ConcordeBoy, not that I am trying to cast doubt on your credability to comment on the A340, but have you actually been on one?

After reading CB's comments in the above link, he discusses attributes and concerns that would come, lets say, from a buyers point of view, not from a passenger. No comments were made from a passengers perspective such as seat pitch and PTV's.  Smile

......I really should let CB backup his own credibility.

Note: He has done his research on the A340. I've witnessed his "rants" many times  Wink/being sarcastic

I'll stop now  Smile

YooYoo, in that case, wouldn't his comments be better placed in a section that is not specifically designated for 'passengers'? Like I said, I am not trying to cast doubt on his credability to comment on the A340 in general, just wondered if he'd actually been on one, since he had posted in that section.

I too have witnessed his "rants" on the A340's "many" faults and eagerly await the development of his own addition to the widebody market, to which I am sure he will have rectified the many inadequacies of Airbuses designs.

CB has been on an A340 , three times??

Wow!!, who would have thought that?

I would have thought you would do whatever possible to avoid boarding that particular aircraft even if it meant doing multiple stop/lay overs.

CB, what models of the A340 have you been on ?

Now I would, and that happened in ATL circa 2000  Big thumbs up

Then though, was traveling with the parental units... didn't have much choice  Crying

A342 and A343

posted my 2 cents on that website too. No reason why it shouldn't get posted  Big grin

Personally I like it.

Yes I know you can hardly feel the takeoff, but once you're at cruising altitude, I found it to be quiet. Plus for traveling in economy, its nice to have the 2-4-2 layout especially if the flight is booked solid.

Also I must say that I just like the idea of a single deck four-engined aircraft! Reminds me of the 707.

I can't imagine how anyone can actually like the A340. I have flown on various A340s at least 7 times - A342, A343 and A346. (SAA and Air Mauritius). The A342 and A343 are awful. Those aircraft take forever to get into the air (looks like the air repels them..LOL), and make weird noises....noises I have never heard before....various grinding sounds..I felt as though the whole damn thing was going to fall apart.

The interior is so narrow, yet Airbus market these as "widebodies"..hahaha...what a joke. The only true widebody is the 747. Its really a shame more airlines are buying this crap than the true widebody..the 747.

PS: I know I'm going to get flamed for this...so I'm putting my anti-flame suit on right now.. Big grin

The A340 is one of my favourite aircraft to fly in. I had the pleasure to fly in the A343, A345 and A346. I love the seating configuration of 2x4x2 because there is only ever one seat away from the aisle. The A340 series have the most quietest cabins of all commercial aircrafts which is a major plus points on passengers points of view. The nose wasn't pretty to look at to begin with but soon grew on me. The A346 is just magnificent with its long fuselage and double bogie rear centre wheel. A single deck four engines aircraft....there are not many!!

i wasn't all that crazy about our old (celestar) a343s, however i LOOOOVE our a345s. it's a nice change from flying the b772/3 that we have so many of... or our ancient megatop b744s for that matter  Big grin.
Ladies & Gentlemen, we will now demonstrate the use of the safety equipment on this aircraft...

Well from personal experience within the cabin, I went on an EK772 and straight onto a EK345 and the A345 was definitely quieter than the B772.

The A340 is a nice, comfortable and quiet aircraft. Very good for flights over 9 hours, but for shorter legs, ill take the 767.

I found the A343 to be comfortable, though I was on IB, which does not offer much on their 343s. On CX, it was a much better experience all around. I guess it really depends on the airline who outfits it. I do prefer the 777, over the 340 for the simple fact that it feels more spacious than a 340.
