Whos Your Queen Of The Skyes, A380 Or 747?

Wed Jan 19, 2005 10:45 pm

Hey, i dont want to start any war stuff. Though, the nose on the A380 isnt nice at all, looks like a bottlenose dolphine! But you could say the 747 is a hachback*( not sure how to spell that ). Anywho, the 747 will have to be my Queen for the time being.

I agree that even with the introduction of the A380, the 747 will remain the one true queen of the skies for its good looks and the fact that it was the first and biggest jumbo jet for 35 years until now. I hope we see new versions of it and keep it flying for another 35 years  Big thumbs up

Definitely the 747!!!!!!!!!!! A classic in civil aviation, no new "super-jumbo" can beat the "jumbo"!!!
I love the 747 as much as I hate the A380.

"The flying Mastodon" title should be awarded for the A380, but only after her first flight.

The title of the Queen of the skies should remain for B747.

Well, "seeinz" that the A380 hasn't even left the ground yet, the 747 still is the only Queen of the skies!!  Big thumbs up

But I agree with all of you. The 747 will always be known as the Queen to me. I like TAP1972's version as well. A380 can have King of the sky status. IMO, there's a big difference.

Well she was the first queen of the skies and i think she deserves to keep the title .
Maybe we should be asking this question in 35 years time when the 380 clocks up some years.
Anyways congratulations to airbus on their new plane i got to admit the plane is looking better.

Yeah the A380 is yet to get airborne, so therefore my vote goes to the 747! This aircraft will always remain one of the most amazing aircraft in my mind/heart!  Smile

The A380, despite it being very impressive and a great engineering achievement, it's so ugly that can only be described as the Forehead Of The Skies:

Like most people I say the 747, the first true mammoth to reach for the skies, the A380 may end up being the largest civilian plane, but it will never be the groundbreaker that the 747 was. before the 747 we had the 707 or the Dc8, when the 747 was rolled out it was was done so with awe, expectation and bewilderment, can we say that the A380 had the same effect, can we say 40yrs from now that the A380 revolutionised air traffic the way the 747 did?.

Long live the 747, but, if the A380 brings down fares, makes life easier for all that work hard at the airports she serves. and brings air travel to all that currently can't afford it, then long live the A380.

Don't count your chicken before they are hatched... let's see how far A380 goes (30 year legacy) before you declare the Queen dead. A380 has not even made its first flight yet. So hold your horses. No so fast champ. Somehow I don't see the Queen passing away anytime soon... Long live the 747. Once a queen, always a queen. While I do admire the technology behind the A380, graceful it is not. Even today when you look at a 747 for the millionth time you still see that old-world grace and the amazing power that makes her the Queen of the Skies! There will be many pretenders to the throne (aka A380), but the "original" will always live on forever.
The fun of flying... love it !!!

The 747 is and always will be the queen of the skies. The A380 is not anything, it has to earn a title like king or queen of the skies.

No matter how advanced a plane is or the economics to an airliner, in the eyes of a true aviation enthusiast certain qualities allows certain aircrafts to out shine others. The 747 is definitely the Queen and will be for a long time . Not only is she exceedingly graceful but she made an impact in aviation and man's history that makes it very difficult for another plane to emulate. There might be bigger and faster planes but she will out shine many if not all of them for a very long time.

For me at the moment, it is the 747-400. But this may change in the future, we'll have to wait and see.

One could call the 744 impressive...gracefulness is only in the eyes of the beholder. (Witness la Carlota inclusion of the 747 SP in his batch of pictures...Now that is really an ugly sucker!

Queen?

Only one, the 747 of course (and I would dare to say that the 747 glory days were in hands of the 747-200).

The 380? Just a huge fat servant of the court, nothing royal!

A380 doesn't even Qualify as an option for "Queen of the Skies" since it hasn't even been off the ground yet. How about this:

A380 - Queen of the Tarmac.

I don't mean to start a A vs. B war, but the A380 doesn't even qualify for entry.
