Quick Trip From Madrid?

Thu Jan 20, 2005 8:30 pm

I have a question for our European members.

My friends and I will be in Madrid early part of March of 2005.
We want to take a quick side-trip for around 24 hours to visit one more European city. What is the best spotters airport in Europe, that is CHEAP to get to from Madrid?

We've been thinking of London or Paris, but would still be open to suggestions. It looks like easyJet has our business initially, with a return ticket to Orly in the 100-150 Euro range.

Is Air Europa an LCC? I thought they were, but when I checked flights from Madrid to Paris, they wanted over 1200 Euros!!! Wow.

Any help is appreciated.

We're considering additional cities such as:

Liverpool
Amsterdam
Milan
Rome
Palma
Nice

I would recommend Amsterdam, you can get very good-priced flights with KLM, Transavia and Iberia from MAD.

I suggest you consider GRX (Granada) the city is fabulous and the Alhambra Palace a must to see.

Try IB on WWW.Iberia.com for the best price.
These are my principles but if you don't like them I have others

What about Geneva, would still be snow on the ground and prices are very good on EZY Swiss, if you wanted to go anywhere within Switzerland the trains are very cheap and reliable.

Thanks for all the ideas.
We decided on easyJet up to Orly, back on the next day.

How far is Granada from Madrid?

yes Granada is a nice city and the airport is really easy for spotting but there are barley any flights to GRX! Iberia, Air Europa, and Spanair fly to GRX.

I would suggest AMS, ORY, Palma.

Air Europa usually has really low fares, they could fly you to PMI
Transvia usually has really low fares, they could fly you to AMS
EasyJet should have really low fares, they could take you to places like ORY, TXL or Geneva.

Maybe you are able to get a good deal on Thai Airways MAD-FCO (Rome)!
