There simply was no other airport in more desperate need of a modern terminal than Bakersfield (BFL). The original building was constructed just after WWII, and although extensions on the runway were completed to allow for a possible emergency landing of the space shuttle if nearby Edwards AFB was not useable, the terminal building never was changed. Small, cramped, horrifically designed for the realities of jet service, and lacking a modern baggage claim until the mid 1980's, BFL was just an atrocity.

Fortunately, the city is building a much more modern facility that can handle mainline jets (if they ever return) as well as the plethora of RJ's that will form the backbone of service there for many years. Let's see if the pics match the final product!!

Considering the growth of air traffic within and to India, Mumbai (BOM) definitely needs a big makeover.

LAX LAX LAX

This airport is an embarrasment. They have tried to make a 1950's design work with volume way above its capacity. Anyone who has arrived at LAX and had to wait on a taxiway for gates or even taxiways to open in front of them knows what I mean.

CLE and MIA.....Cleveland's too busy charging exorbitant landing fees and not worrying about upgrading the ugly Concourse A and B. I'd love to see a Concourse E added, move all the airlines from A and B over to the new terminal, then tear down the old ones and build new.

I flew UA through MIA last year and was surprised how nasty the terminal area was. You walk down deserted hallways and in places that look like you do not belong. The signage is poor and it is old and musty. Will choose FLL over MIA any day of the week!

SAN all the way. SAN is so antiquated that it seriously limits the growth of air transportation from one of the top 10 largest cities in America!

The two passenger terminals are old, cramped, and musty. The location is locked in between the bay and the hills that there is no room for expansion.

While I agree that many of these older facilities need to be revamped (or torn down?), I for one LOVE the older terminals. The new ones all look alike on the inside. Even the spifiest of them seem to lack character. Give me BOS terminal D any day!

I agree with Flyabunch. LAX is a nightmare airport! Most terminals are OK, but T3 needs to go!

Heathrow Terminal's 1 and 2. And Jeddah airport. It's the worst airport in the country yet does the highest turnover of passengers.

and with that..cabin crew, seats for landing please.

Beckaru, the SLC revamp has been discussed for I don't know how long but no one has done anything serious on it has ever been done, *sigh* frustration.

Here's a plan, renovate CDG:

Step one: Sack ADP management and suppress the name from history
Step two: Ferret-out any last vestige of this infamous family of tribes
Step three: Check you got them all
Step four: Re-hire at leat the top 16 layers of management drawing from people who know something about airports and passengers, even 'clients'
Step five: Give the whole place a good hosing down
Step six: rebuild 2E and complete T1 renovations and inter-terminal train

: Voila - a great new mega-hub is born...

for me, LGA. What a mess. Landlocked, no room for expansion. No real public transportation compared to the Orange Line from Midway and the Blue Line from O'Hare. Taking the bus into LGA is like working your way through a corn maize; or a lottery if you're on a tight schedule. Next terminal. . . .?

FRA's terminal 1 could stand a revamp. There are many parts that havn't changed since the early 80's!!!!!!
