CO at EWR, although they are nowhere near what NW is like at MSP or KLM at AMS.

WM at BWI

I didn't know Windward Islands Airways had such a big presence at BWI.  Laugh out loud

I think that CLT, MEM, and CVG are probably the best examples of entrenched fortress type hubs in the United States.

I wouldn't say that AA and UA dominate ORD. They're the largest carriers, to be sure, but at least 1/3rd of the traffic is from carriers other than those two, I think. Anyone got figures on that?

How about AC which dominates most airports in Canada (especially in the east), for the most part.

In YYZ, AC has the brand new 4-billion dollar terminal 1 all to itself (and its star alliance partners), big part of terminal 2 as well. Jetsgo, Canjet and all other airlines share terminal 3.

AC also accounts for most of YUL's operations, Jetsgo can't give AC a run for their money. Westjet does not seem to have much interest in YUL either.

With the rise of Westjet, AC is loosing dominance over airports in the west (especially in YYC), which is a good thing.

It's cheap that Air Canada actually went to court to prevent other airlines from using the new terminal at Pearson.

Westjet dominates at least half of YYC (Calgary).

Thanks, SHU...interesting numbers. I found it interesting that at each of UA's hub airports, they have about 40% at each, where if you look at others, the percentage is much higher.

PDX: I would would think AS/QX, then WN, then UA.

B6's numbers for JFK are amazing! More than AA and DL? Never would have guessed that.

Steven,
I thought that was worth noting also. I think that the reason is that UA has hubs at very large airports and more hubs than most airlines. If you look at the others they either have one major hub or have large numbers a small airports. Another thing worth nothing is the amount of times you see UA mentioned on that list.

Druk Air Bhutan has total domination at Paro, Bhutan. The airline is the only one flying there. It is the only airline flying to all of Bhutan as well.

Yeah, I would have to agree that AS dominates us here at FAI.
Which really does suck, especially when they charge $250 more dollars to fly from here, than they do anchorage.

this thread is a little weird - we're just naming hubs. Obviously any major airline is going to dominate its hub airports.

I mean, let's see. AF in Paris. Icelandair at Keflavik. We could go on ad nauseum.

I will disagree with the person who said US at DCA. US has only half of the flights there, if that. Good representation from DL and others.

The only meaningful way to interpret the question (rather than rattling of the hub of each carrier) is which airlines dominiate airports worldwide?

In that case, the answer would probably be:

- BA (can find a plane in almost any major airport worldwide)
- SQ
- KLM
- AF
- LH
- CX
- UA
- QF
When all's said and done, there'll be more said than done.

I don't agree with BA @ LHR.
Heathrow is a truly international airport with foreign carriers from all over the world. Yes there are loads of BA planes at LHR but the sheer number of other airlines that serve LHR rather 'dwarfs' BA's presence there.

Im surprised no one has really mentioned Lufthansa at Munich. Much more than Everyother landing and takeoff appears to be an LH plane. Also LH dominates Frankfurt. Lufthansa practicly owns those two airports.
Cleared for the option...
