Thanks for the replies. I've checked loads on the AA
flight only, and the res agent said the flight is about half full. I realize that ZED tickets are not eligible for upgrades, but I've heard it can actually happen quite often.
As far as BA
goes, my friend just got back from Norway via LHR
on them yesterday. He was upgraded on both flights (LAX
-Oslo) on his way there. He said he simply gave the crew the candy when he boarded, introduced himself as a fellow flight attendant, and took his seat. They ended up upgrading him after take-off to an upstairs ClubWorld seat. I'm would NEVER ask a crewmember for an upgrade. If anybody ever did that on my airline, I'd tell them to f*ck off (not really.. but you get my point). Kinda like airline employees assuming they get free drinks on all flights. I always want to charge them double when they do that.
I guess it all depends on who you ask and how good of a mood that person is in. I figured that BA
would be hard to upgrade at the counter and figured the crew would not be able to upgrade you after you boarded. My friend proved me wrong with this theory so that's why I'm asking you all what you think. I think if I got stuck in coach though, AA
would be better assuming their B777's still have MRTC. Any other suggestions? I just figured that bringing candy (or some other gift) would be a nice treat for the crew. If it happens to get my friend an I an upgrade, yay for us!
