I am a fan of United's Denver operation. I seldom have many significant delays and with the runway layout and capacity, there are seldom long waits for active runways. Plus, I like the layout of UA's operations across the B concourse and the ease of connecting. Granted, I have never flown on TED, which being out of A, might be more difficult.

I bet the FedEx operation at Memphis is impressive. I've only looked over at the operation while zooming along the runway, but the amount of aircraft they accept, reload and push with the speed and accuracy they do it with is amazing.

As much as I'm sick of RJs and as much as the managment here aggrivates me, I'm gunna nominate Cleveland. It's never delayed, there are seldom ever ground stops like EWR, snow is removed rapidly in winter and congestion is cleared out quickly, especially now we're running 2 9,000 foot runways. If you don't mind ERJs and 737s, CLE is also a great airport to connect through and concourse D is a great terminal.

How anyone could pick ORD as the best hub is BEYOND me. O'hare suffers from chronic delays for any number of reasons. Additionally, the layout between flights is none to obvious sometimes.

A nice hub in my opinion would be Charlotte, Denver (as long as you are just transfering), DFW (as long as it is O/D), and Munich. Amsterdam is nice too.

NW at MSP - much better than ORD, and a nice terminal.

STL - small size, easy to connect, close to home
CVG - good size as well, awesome bars in RJ concourse, get to see lots of jets from the transfer bus
ATL - congestion sometimes, but good selection of bars and nice terminals

My favorite is ORD, but is plagued by WX for both UA and AA.

My second is DIA in DEN. It very seldom has issues.

From an aesthetical point of view, I find Northwest's DTW WorldGateway pretty impressive, at over a mile long.

I love NW's DTW hub. Lots of room to grow. No traffic issues. Fresh and new. The tram is great. No gate is more than a few minutes away.

As a passenger, I enjoy NW transfers at MEM -- compact terminal that's surprisingly airy and well maintained for its age; friendly staff.

As an aviation enthusiast and aircraft photographer, AA connections at ORD are great due to the excellent views of the international ramp and the south-side runways.

Safe travels!

1. DL-ATL
Gotta love the biggest airline hub in the world. 685 mainline flights and 300 DL Connection flights to nearly 200 cities worldwide.
2. NW-MSP I've got to have pride in my hometown. I've always loved MSP and NW's hub here, and they defend it like it's nobody's business. Great shops, looks like a mall. 2nd most cities served from any US airport after ATL.
3. AA-DFW
Second largest hub in the world, with nearly 540 daily mainline flights.
4. DL-CVG
620 daily flights to over 130 cities, and it's DL's 2nd largest hub. Convenient and nice.
5. CO-EWR
I went there in December for the first time, it was nice. I had a better appreciation for CO. It's only the only true HUB in the New York area.

My favorite hub/airline is Chicago O'Hare United Airlines.
I believe United has about 47% of the market share and American has 40%.

Other favorites include:
Charlotte (CLT) USAirways
Washington Dulles (IAD) United
Atlanta (ATL) Delta

DTW: because it purpose built for single hub operation.
DEN: Very cool, great public art.
EWR: I love flying on CO
ATL: Not my favorite
ORD: A mess, International to Domestic is just a pain.

FAVORITES:
NW - DTW World Terminal (Every type plane you can imagine)
AS - SEA (Tons of Asian Carriers to see)
DL - CVG (Small, easy to connect)
AA - STL (Small, easy to connect)

LEAST FAVORITES:
AA - ORD (Too expansive, delays, frequent gate changes)
CO - CLE (Boring, no good shops, ugly decorating... if you can call it that)
Hey Obama, keep the change! I want my dollar back.

ORD is a nightmare if you need to connect from UA mainline to UA express in a hurry.

I personally like HP's operation at PHX.
1. 200+ mainline, ~120 express flights
2. Its all located in one terminal - express and mainline. That's hard to find nowadays
3. good weather means less weather related delays
4. attractive airport

MEM, although its old, small, and somewhat stuffy, is my favorite connecting hub for two main reasons:

1. It is the easiest hub i've ever connected in as far as proximity is concerned. All the gates are together in the same terminal, and from the extreme ends of each concourse, its no more than a five min walk or so.

2. The food at MEM is great. You can smell the BBQ when you get halfway down your jetway. I love BBQ, and MEM is the place to get it as far as airports are concerned. Also, the close proximity of gates means that there is enough time to eat between flights.

I still havn't been to CVG yet, and everyone seems to like it. Like to give it a try soon.

F9-DEN... Is is great hub and its all on one concourse. Can every airline say that in DEN???  Smile

Also love HNL for HA and AQ. Great gates and great flight times.

I like AMS. Although I really like DTW, I don't know what it's like making connections there because it's my final destination. But Amsterdam is bright, friendly, and convenient. You get excited just for the shopping, or internet lounges. It's good when you arrive in another continent, and you're experiences are happy and positive. A lot of airlines fly into AMS too, and so you see all types of equipment. Just think, from one place, you can fly practically to any place in the world. Few airports can match that.

DL at JFK . . . easy connections.

Awesome history with Pan Am Worldport.

Cool jetbridges that reach over roadways.

I really like AQ at HNL (duh). There are great pictures from Aloha's history around their gates at the Makai Pier (gates 49-53). Most convenient trans-pac to interisland connections at HNL, and a beautiful, short (open air so you can see the planes)walk to the gates past the pretty garden.

Personally, I think that DL in ATL is a very efficient set-up for the sheer quantity of flights that they handle. It's very simple in terms of set-up (once you fly through there a lot). CLT is also pretty well done, as is PIT. I'm not a huge fan of DFW (for both AA and when DL was there).

here are the ones i like:
CLT on US- PHL is ok, but too much hassle. CLT is nicer and easy to get through

ATL on DL or FL- I love how massive ATL is and how many planes there are at any givin moment. and i like those fun little underground trains !  Smile

i dont like:
i dont like CLE- dont get me wrong, i love CO, first time flying them not to long ago and boy was i impressed. but CLE is dirty and the gate areas are cramped and does not have enough windows. but i will certainly be flying on CO in the future.

Not sure why we only have US replys. My favourite Hub/Airline combination is also the world's number 1 rated airport. They have unparalleled lounges and five star cabin service....
