In Which Frequent Flyer Programs Are You Member?

Sat Feb 19, 2005 2:35 am

I am member of the following three FFP's:

  • Air France Frequences Plus for Skyteam (Bleu elite, try to become Rouge elite this year)

  • Lufthansa Miles & More for Star Alliance (will be replaced with another Star Alliance FFP as soon as I spend all my remaining miles, LH's M & M has become one of the worst FFP's)

  • AAdvantage for Oneworld

Additionally I collect Air France miles with my AmEx card (Membership Rewards program).

In which frequent flyer programs are you member?

Delta SkyMiles (SkyTeam) Just fell short of elite last year as I had 21,000 miles accrued from 31 July to 31 Dec.

Southwest Rapid Rewards (Use them for n/s travel usually to BWI, FLL, or MSY rather than go through ATL.)

United Mileage Plus (Star) Was my primary until June of last year, switched to DL, and CO after getting tired of CRJs. I still will use US IF they are considerably less expensive than DL AND my layover is in either CLT or DCA only.

I used to collect the cards, but now the only ones I use are TG ROP, and EK Skywards. I think I have a few points still on SU.

    I really only have a top 2.

    1. United Mileage Plus - Premier Executive Member (star alliance gold)

    2. Virgin Atlantic Flying Club - Red (As I'm now staff, probably won't earn miles to much as will be non-rev!!)

Also have some points left on my Qantas FFP and BA Executive Club (possibly the worst FFP in the entire world.... 25% for anything thats not full Y!!!)

Milage Plus is great, as its easy to reach higher status, and you can purchase miles to top up and reap rewards quicker.

    My 2p worth anyways!!

Im currently on Delta SkyMiles. I would like to join AV privilegios, but it would only be a cost for the airline as I collect my miles with the Delta card, so its not necessary to have the AV card.

I am a member of all the three large alliances, ST, SA and OW.

    KLM Flying Dutchman for SkyTeam
    SAS EuroBonus for Star Alliance
British Airways Executive Club for One World

I almost never fly on OW only when I absolutely have to, but I have the card anyway to not loose any miles, nowadays it is almost the same for the SA card, since the programs have become pretty bad lately, I now only fly with ST carriers. They cover my routes a lot better and provides me with a lot cheaper fares. It is also a good thing that they have three American carriers and I also earn miles with Alaska Airlines and on Malev. Big thumbs up for KL FD.

I usually try to get one per alliance, and if an airline is not an alliance member I subscribe as well - who knows when you fly them again? I used my LH miles for a free flight to Europe, and since then switched to UA. I am member at

LH, AC and UA (Star Alliance)
    QF (OneWorld)
    DL (SkyTeam)
    HP

Favourites are Star Alliance and OneWorld, in that order...
