LH Or BD Business Class To BOM?

Tue Feb 22, 2005 1:51 am

Hi people,

I will be travelling from London to Mumbai in April. If able, I wish to use my UA MP miles to upgrade for Economy to Business Class.

My question is: Which would you choose, LH or BD? If I travel LH my routing would be LCY-FRA-BOM. For BD it would be LHR-BOM

Thanks in advance for your views.

Regards,

Feroze

I'd try BD just to see what sort of product they offer in premium classes. LH's FRA-BOM route is filled with IMO lousy service and somewhat rude FAs. That having been said, I'm sure for you it is more advantageous to fly from London City rather than to drive to Heathrow.

I'd give BD a shot if you can.

You can only acquire upgrades on LH with your Mileage Plus miles, unless something has changed very recently.

The food on BD is superb, an airliners.net report (by Skymonster I think) was linked over to a recent Flyertalk trip report and looked very comparable to F on many airlines as there is an onboard chef. Don't expect flatbed-esque seating but the service is pretty decent and loads appear to be fairly light up front on BD from what I have heard.

I have a fairly sizeable number of Star Alliance miles now and have little intention of using them on LH unless in F. Give BD a chance, avoiding a connection (albeit at FRA) is reason enough to do this.

As I was saying, you can't get an upgrade on any other *A carrier with your MP miles except UA, so the exercise is moot.

He said he wanted to upgrade, not necessarily get a mileage ticket.
