Most Generous Star Alliance FFP?

Tue Feb 22, 2005 9:03 pm

I'm already a member of LH miles & more, but I was wondering which star alliance FFP is better, which gives the most benefits?

If I find a better one I 'll join that FFP before I start my RTW trip.

I will fly a lot with SQ and NZ.

Your help will be highly appreciated.

I love both Airbus and Boeing as much as I love aviation!

Go with bmi, as a Dutch resident you can join (not all countries can). The thresholds for Gold and Silver are woefully low, yet you still get Star Gold (38k miles compared to LH's 100k miles) and Star Silver (16k miles).

Award redemption are very generous, VS Upper Class award seat to the US west coast is just 100k miles and you can combine cash and miles on all Star Alliance partners, for example SQ First LHR-SIN-LHR is just 80k miles + £540 cash!

I've got both LH Miles & More and bmi Diamond Club and am now putting more and more of my *A miles into bmi.

Air Canada has the lowest points needed to achieve G*.

Air Canada's Aeroplan is also very nice, I found the following information on their website:

- Prestige: 18,000 Status miles or 30 Status flights;
- Elite: 35,000 Status miles or 60 Status flights;
- Super Elite: 100,000 Status miles or 150 Status flights.

Since Germans can't join BMI's Diamond Club, I will change to Aeroplan as soon as I spend all my remaining LH miles.

I would say TG.

10k is silver and 50k is gold. As soon as you hit gold you get a free upgrade certificate valid for an entire journey.

If you are gold, they also guarantee you a seat on a flight if you give them at least 2 days notice.

So you can get a seat at christmas time if you book 20 December  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Quoting Sabena332 (reply 3):
Prestige: 18,000 Status miles or 30 Status flights;

I'm pretty sure this has been increased to 25,000 Status miles. Gold is still at 35,000 miles. I really hope they do not increase the latter, as I have been Gold for 4-5 years now and I never managed to reach 50,000 miles.

Yes, I like Aeroplan very much. It's what I use for all personal travel.
