Skyteam FF Programs

Sun Mar 06, 2005 7:44 pm

What would be in your opinion the most worthwhile FF program of the skyteam group considering I will travel in the future to S-AM. (and C-AM.) and Asia... besides Europe. (N-Am. not on the list)

Would it be worthwhile to think of continentals onepass above for instance KLM and Czech's FF programms?

Regards

K.

I'm not well up on FF programmes but a couple of years ago, I joined the Flying Dutchman prior to flying KLM NCL-AMS-MIA and return. Just used this again when flying AF from MAN-CDG-NRT and back and already have enough points for a free flight anywhere in Europe.

I think given AF/KLM acquisition, the AF is a good one to go for, especially given their good global coverage?

AF and KLM FF programmes are going to be merged into a single New FF Programme .

It's name should be revealed within the next months, and before the end of this year.

Bye Bye "Fréquence Plus" and "Flying Dutchman" ... wave

Someone mentioned a while back that QF (I think) did the dirty on their FF members when they rehashed their programme .... is there any chance Flying Dutchman members will lose out in this new AF/KLM FF scheme?

I am happy with SA)">DL's SkyMiles program and whenever I fly AF or AM I get my miles credited without any problem. I think most of them are pretty good but your choice should depend on which non-SkyTeam airlines you will be flying from time to time, since each SkyTeam partner has separate mileage accrual/redemption partnerships with third party airlines (e.g. SA)">DL with SQ, SA, AV; AM with MX, LA, UX; etc.).
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738

Well with KL you could have earned full mileage on every fare, including promotional fares, however this is no longer possible.
On the so-called "N" and "E" fares milleage accrual is no longer possible.

This belongs in polls and prefs.

To answer, Delta SkyMiles is pretty good.

I personally use SkyMiles, since Delta is my preferred carrier, and I can get upgrades on DL with my status there - if I had status on CO, NW, or any other airline, I could get preferred coach seating, but would not get the upgrade.

In terms of making elite status, Czech is the best, only need 15 segments to make OK Plus Silver. DL/CO/NW are all very much the same, needing 25000 miles (or 30 segments in NW's case) to make Silver, I don't know KL, AF, KE, AZ, or AM's requirements, but they are similiar.

If your going to S.Am and Asia choose CO, AF or DL, they have the best coverage. An if you choose DL you will be able to accrue miles with AV, if Skyteam can´t get you to certain destinations.

It's a tough choice... KL would be easy as next flights are on KL (well not exactly but LAL and Air Baltic aren't mayor players .... lol )....

CO looks nice too because of their links with COPA......

arrghh.. how bout I register with all of them and decide on the spot...

Hopefully, NWA will work on both air france and klm. KLM is pretty stingy on the upgrades (only if coach is full, no matter how empty first is) while NWA moves you up depending on your status

By the way, Delta is also pretty restrictive about upgrades, so I do my best to stick with NWA and Continental, and there aren't too many places that I cannot get to with those 2

Hi Koenie,

I would say go for Frequence Plus. Air France has a pretty good program and with the AF-KLM reach to the Americas and also to the East, not to mention the huge network in Europe. If flying domestic in the US is not relevant, then I strongly suggest Air France-KLM.

cheers

What difference would it make which one you chose with. Regardless of whom you chose, you still be able to use your miles with any skyteam alliance member. For instance, if you have Northwest's World perks, you can use them on aeromexico and air france if you'd like. It doesn't matter who you go with. What's most important is whom you'll fly with the most. I know it's too late, but if you chose Aeromexico, but you usually fly KLM, then it wouldn't make any sense. Also, individual airlines have their own code-share operated flight partners. For instance, Airalps is partners with KLM.

Go to the Skyteam website and click on the airlines listed at the very top...they give a brief description of what the FF program is about.
