UA Express CRJ 700 Experiences?

Wed Apr 13, 2005 7:16 am

Booked in F on a CRJ700 DEN-BHM-DEN. Seat assigned is 1A. Anyone have experiences with UAs CRJs? Service on that route in F? DEN-BHM is mid-day. BHM-DEN is mid-afternoon.

I don't know about first, but it was sure a LONG flight there and back in the front.  Smile

I was really hoping they'd put a 170 on that, but I knew better. I'd love to fly on one of those new 170s. Alas, I haven't been on a CRJ700 either - so this will be great - and it's a (facsimile of) an F seat. I really like the 1/2 seating. But still a pretty long haul for an ERJ. . . .

Anyone have the on-time factors for this flight? I will be meeting my daughter in BHM, flying as a UM from CID, her scheduled arrival is 90 minutes after mine, so I am curious. Don't want to leave NW holding the bag or the daughter . . .  wink

My father flew from BUR to DEN on a crj700 and he had a 2nd row seat. He said that it was the quietest flight that he had. He said that it was a nice and new plane with room to cross the legs. He said that just the fact that it was so quiet made all the difference.

UA usually posts on-time rates on the website towards the right of the flight info. Just look up your route for the date you're flying.

Nooooo! covereyes
Well, if you are expecting a decently comfortable seat, you will get that. Unfortunately, that is about it. Most of the time the flight attendants on the routes are in their low 20's and don't give a flying piece of $hit. When I was on them, they did not even offer pre-departure beverages and just one round of drinks during the flight. They do not have ovens, so you can expect the fancy snack mix, and nothing more. Overall, UA Express has a pretty crappy on time record, so don't expect that the number next to the "Arrival" on your ticket means anything.

I'm on this flight because I'm burning off those 250K US Air miles I have before they crap out.

Shit, I'm sitting across form the galley and it's nearly a 3 hour ride . . . one round of Drinkies ain't gonna get it! I know how to open the liquor cabinet . . .  bigthumbsup

I didn't expect a meal - afterall, this is United Excuse errr, Express, we're talking about. Snack was about it, I'll carry something on board after the red-eye from ANC into DEN. But the F/A better try a little harder in the cabin.

Thanks for the honest answer Bravo . . .

I recently flew UX CRJ700 (operated by MESA airlines) from IAD to BNA in seat 1A, OK, having come off an international flight in Business it wasn't great, but it sure beat the hell out of sitting in the back. The seats were very comfortable and I guess that's a huge bonus when flying. On the return from BNA to ORD I had seat 2A, the cabin crew were great and asked repeatedly whether we would like a top up on our drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, in fact the guy sat in 1C must have had 3 G&Ts after we landed and whilst we taxied to the gate !

Goneflying, you had a good experience on Mesa because they started the first First Class seating for any UAX regional carrier.

Always, always hedge your bet SOAC . . .

I hope they don't go away, but if they do, I'm not going to get stuck holding a quarter million useless miles.

I flew IND-ORD in February in 1D on a UAX Mesa aircraft and lucky for you wrote a full trip report about the entire journey describing the service, the plane and the experience. Check it out, and feel free to leave commentary or questions. Star To Europe Part 1 IND-MXP (w/New LH Bus.) Pics (by RoseFlyer Mar 12 2005 in Trip Reports)

I liked the plane a lot. It had very personal service up front, and the 3 abreast seats in first class are plenty comfortable for a good flight, and the plane is a whole lot newer then old 737s.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

Excellent idea! Thanks!

I've always liked the RJs, prefering the Embraers to the Canadairs, but haven't experienced a -700, or an F seat in one. Ought to be interesting.

I am happy to see that some people have enjoyed it. I wish I could say the same. I might give it another try soon.
