Looking For New Luggage.. Any Reccomendations?

Tue May 10, 2005 8:56 am

Well.. summer's coming around.. and so far I have about 6 trips planned (some are listed in profile); and I've decided it's time for UAAlltheway to get some new bags. Any reccomendations? I'm a guy- so something navy blue (anything dark) or something would be nice. Note I'll be flying everywhere from London to Nicaragua and Colorado, so I need something tough. Does anyone have an idea of what kind of suitcase I need? P.S. I'm looking for something rolling.

Thanks in adv- UA All the way

Also- what's that one brand of luggage with the logo is like the effile tower, frequently seen owned by F/As and pilots?

Although it comes from Walmart and lots of people have it, I've been very happy with my high-end American Tourister Luggage.

Call my friend Ron in Lansing. He's a luggage distributor and works with the airlines.

My family has a set of four, rolling, carry-on-sized Tumi bags that we use when we go anywhere. They were quite expensive ($525 each), but when it comes to luggage quality, nothing surpasses a Tumi. Moreover, if the airline ever damages the bag, they will fix it for free.

I'm curious about that, too...you can get a 6-piece set with just about everything you'd ever need from Target for $149.99.

Right now I have a huge rolling duffel from the Samsonite factory store which I'm very happy with (similar to this, but a little bigger and with a separate shoe compartment on the bottom), and a Skyroll wheeled carry-on/garment bag that I'm not as happy with.

The Samsonite is very tough and has stood up to a lot of punishment already.

That explains why I spend so much time picking the pieces of it up off my gates. American Tourister must be WalSpeak for FOD.

I am a big fan of Rimowa. I have the carry-on trolley as well as the small suitcase in the picture below:

The stuff is quite pricey but I really like the design and the quality.
