US Airways Destination On Upgrade

Wed May 18, 2005 10:29 am

Hi,

I have some US Airways upgrade tickets that I must use before the end of the year (assuming that US Airways lasts that long, fingers crossed for all those employed and those reliant on US).

I plan to use these in either September or November, can anyone suggest a US destination from LGW, (it doesn't have to be direct as the tickets are for connections as well), that will fit into the following criteria:

a) Cheap Flight
b) Good Chance Of Upgrade (ie low passenger volume)
c) Interesting Place For a Couple of Brits to Visit
d) Better Weather Than The UK (OK, so that's a gimme)

We will only be staying for 7-10 days, less travelling, so we only really have 5-8 days, so we need somewhere where everything is close by, as we can't really be doing 2-3+ day excursions.

Any ideas would be welcomed.

Andy

I have used my US Air upgrades for a lot of domestic flights with in the USA and have found that it is very easy to get the upgrade.

I flown to following cities served by USAIR in first class via an upgrade. Most of flights were from JAX with some from GNV (which do to the aircraft was economy till CLT).

a) NYC
b) PHL
c) CLT
d) MSP

Planning on going to the west cost and if my plans work out I'll be using another upgrade on US Air from CLT to LAX.

Also have done the upgrade on UAL for international travel from IAD to LHR.

might i suggest Washington D.C? you could fly to either PHL or CLT, and then to BWI or DCA.

the good thing about D.C is that all the museams and stuff are free.

you can practically walk anywhere, otherwise, just hop on the metro.

you could take a daytrip up to Baltimore...walk around the inner harbor, maybe catch a baseball game at camden yards. and i highly suggest u go to the aquarium, its awesome. you could rent a car for the day and drive, its about 30-45min to drive(without traffic)

november might not be the best time to go though, as the weather here that time of year can be pretty much the same as in the UK(cool, cloudy, rainy..) august or early september should be better.
