Don't You Miss TWA's 757 A Lot?

Sun Jun 19, 2005 3:00 pm

In general I miss TWA a lot. But since I flew their B757 quite a lot, I miss them more. Do you?

I work on them every day, they still wear the TW registration.

Oh good lord, one of the worst maintained aircraft I've ever been on was an ex-TWA AA 757. That plane was in awful cosmetic condition; the seats were terrible and it seemed like everything in the passenger cabin was falling apart. And, man, was it dirty. It was in stark contrast to the rest of AA's fleet.

I won't miss those TW birds in the slightest when they're gone. Handsome old livery, though.

of course the Boeing 757s of the TRANS WORLD fleet were the best 757 ever known to man in my opinion, they carried true spirit and pride.

AA ruined them.

I would be forced to agree with Malaysia, since I have workd on those same 757's while in that livery of old.

I have yet to fly on one of those TW 757s configured with the "mini-cabin" in the back. Unfortunately, living in MIA, I don't think AA flies them down here at all. Sad

Didn't TWA take the 757 across the Atlantic? I want to say they used them JFK-LIS...

I miss TW a great deal, I still haven't found a carrier that I devote 100% of my flying to. Their 757s were classy, they had the extra lav and the bulkhead in-between the two coach sections - which I love! The TW 757s flying with AA are definately no the same!!!

Not a day goes by I don't miss TW, PA, EA and BN. The industry seems sort of "hollow" with none of them in the air. I flew EA a LOT, and they were always wonderful.

It's better than being parked in the desert...they would have been ruined there after TWA went under.

We(twa) never flew the 757 to the UK, but did to LIS...and as far as missing the 75, it was a great plane to work from a crew standpoint...a twa crew standpoint that is. I dont know how the current AA crews like them (and dont care)

Does a 757 have the range to fly HNL-STL?? I know they initally started that route with a 747 then downgraded to a 763 when the 747's were parked.

Not non-stop, right? Where did they stop for fuel? LAX?

Right after they parked the last 747 and before they had enough 767s on the property, they flew the 757-200 STL-HNL. Nonstop on the eastbound, but westbound required a fuel stop at LAX.

It's sad to see what's happened to those 75's. A lot of them that fly into KOA with TWA's reg. #'s are in BAD need of repair. Although I have to agree with a lot of people in this discussion and say that the last cs they wore prior to the takeover was sweet, to say the least. I kinda miss the old livery as well. In the words of Howard Hughes, "bring me the milk, bring me the milk, bring me the milk, bring me the milk, bring me the milk...." =0)

Oh, yes. I miss TWA 757s a lot. For 2 good reasons:

1st reason: This was my first TWA 757 flight, lucky me  thumbsup

We need to have a throwback airport where it is tarmac boarding only and it is served by airlines like Pan Am, TWA, and Eastern.

I believe DL did some of TW/AA's maintenance on the TW 757s because of commonality with DL's 757s.

I have a close family member who was an F/A who flew the 757 to London when the plane was new at TW and only the STL crew base was trained on it. I'm sure London wasn't a regular 752 route because TW could fill the 763s from STL or JFK.

I pretty much doubt that the TW Flight Attendants liked to work the 757 because no airline Crew member does unless you are flying it. They don't call it the slave ship for nothing.

That is the way it went down, and one day you will get over it.

Back to the original question, I like the 757s with 3R,3L, door exits instead of window exits because it splits the cabin up which is nice! This has nothing to do with TW because HP,US, and NW all have this type of 757 and all are very cool.

HNL-STL was indeed non-stop. (tailwinds) It's couldn't be done STL-HNL. That route had a stop in LAX.

Um.. kind of.

I flew TWA a lot when they where around, mostly on the B757-200 from JFK-SJU-JFK. Horrible service.

But I really loved seeing that new color scheme.
