Seat Pitch In AC

Thu Jun 23, 2005 8:23 pm

Hello I'm flying to Canada next month, my flight plan will be:

MAD-MUC LH A319
MUC-YYZ AC B763

YYZ-FRA AC A333
FRA-MAD LH A321

I have some questions and I wonder if somebody could help me:
How is the seat pitch in AC 763 and 333? What about IFE? Do they have PTV's in Y? How is the service and food?

In my first leg, I will connect in MUC, and I have seen that there is an observation terrace over there, could somebody tell me where to find it?

And least: how much would it cost a taxi from YYZ to downtown Toronto??

Thanks for your help.

Seat pitch on AC is between 32" and 34". The A333 having slightly newer seats and a better pitch over the B763. Overall, I've never felt the least bit cramped on any of their aircraft. IFE for now is main screen, until AVOD is installed on all of their fleet, however that won't start until the end of 2005. Service on AC can still be hit and miss, however they are much improved over the AC of 2 years ago - and they are still getting better.

Taxis to downtown Toronto are a flat rate of $43. If you are going to a hotel, you might consider the Airport Express bus which is about $15 and it stops at various hotels around the city. www.torontoairportexpress.com

I have too agree on that one myself. In the last couple of years AC has gotten very good in terms of quality and service. My last trip with them in the winter from LHR-YYC on the A330 was phenomenal! The service was just excellent. Some of the best Y class food I've had in along time. Just as an example, we had pizza, chips, ice cream and beer for a snack just before arrival in YYC. Try the Sleeman's Cream Ale, it's really good.

As far as the in-flight entertainment is concerned, no PTV's yet, but the main screens are constantly showing movies. Usually four films on the way to YVR or YYC.

Have a great flight!

Thank you for your information!

I'm not going to a hotel, I'll stay in a Student Residence in downtown Toronto for one month. I'll be carrying heavy luggage so I prefer to take a taxi but may be it is a little bit too expensive.

Another option if your pressed for cashola is transit. Its not the best but its dirt cheap. $2.50CAD is all it costs. If you do take this choice, take the 192 Rocket to Kipling Station, I think it comes in on Sub-Level 1 (basement floor) at the airport. then transfer to the subway going eastbound (its hard to do otherwise Kipling is the end of the line) transfer to the University/Yonge line at St. George Station going southbound and get off at Union...or any of the stations closest. AC was alwasy ok for me, rarely better. Recently I was on a 767 that was old, had worn seats, and was dirty. On the same trip I was on a A319, which was new, bright, clean. I was on their 74M and A330 as well, as well as many years back on their 742 and L1011. All flights were average, none was outstanding, except the one sector on the A319 (YYZ-LAX).

Service was normal, but I never encounered an unfriendly F/A. Same at the check-in - they are usually very friendly!

Things are slowly changing with AC - fortunately for the better...  Smile

Thus, while they are not outstanding, they are solid and I wouldn't hesitate to fly them any time...

Cheers

One other question: is it possible to book a specific seat for my flight in AC? I have been looking in their website but I haven't found anything.

I always enjoyed my rides on AC.. last leg was CDG-YUL on the 333 in March. Meals in economy are one of the best. I always prefered the older F/As at AC, very attentive and pleasant to talk to.. For the IFE, please bring a good book or your IPOD or something.. last leg they showed "Le festin de Babette"...  Sad But you should enjoy your ride.. great seat pitch and great service!
