Questions About Frontier Airlines.

Tue Jun 28, 2005 12:25 am

1. Do they have assigned seats?
2. Do they offer food on long flights? Is it free? What kind of food?
3. Are there PTV's on the A318's?
4. Is the flight map on the PTV's free or does it require the 5 dollar activation?
5. Is Frontier considered a low-fare airline?
6. How is Frontier? Have any good/bad experiences with them?

Thanks for all the help!

1) Yes, all assigned seating on F9
2) Wrap sandwiches on flights lobger than 3 hours. All food is free. Stuff like warm muffins and bagels on longer morning flights. Flights less than two hours offer light snack service, ie, chips and granola bars
3) Yes, all 318's have PTV's
4) The in flight map is free as well as the Wild Blue Yonder variety station
5) Yes
6) Excellent little airline with great service and comfortable aircraft

I can't speak highly enough of Frontier. I have never received poor service, the planes are comfortable, the food is quite tasty actually (I like the breadsticks).

They also carry a really large selection of beers... many quite good ones.

I know the anti-PTV crowd in here will say that for short US domestic sectors IFE is pointless, but obviously none of those people have ADD. The PTV goes a long way towards keeping me from jogging up and down the aisles.

Those are ex-DEN...coming from the east coast to DEN, the snack differs but usually isn't a wrap...lately on my East Coast-DEN flights it's been those fabulous breadsticks like Gigneil mentioned, sometimes they also offer little plastic wrappings of assorted snacks heading to DEN....

Service-wise, you will find that it goes above and beyond what you expect...definitely way better than any major in Y, and I also highly recommend the PTV's...they really make the flight fly right by (no pun intended)!

One thing I'm curious about though...MSY or other F9 people, do you have any stats on what the overall percentage of pax is that use the PTV's?

Greg, I heard some stats about the number of people paying for the PTV usage about a year ago, and I haven't heard any since then. But back then it was something like...

10-30% PTV usage on flights of up to 1.5 hours
30-60% PTV usage on flights 1.5 to 3 hours
60%+ PTV usage on flights greater than 3 hours

Yeah, I just saw it on Frontier's website. Also, how do you reserve seats? Are they available at time of booking or what? Thanks!

You reserve seats on F9 the same way you do on any other airline. You can select them at time of booking, and they have a nice seat map online for you to do it with.

Well hopefully this will sell a few more! Direct TV in every seat. Aircraft just cleaned and ready for the Red-Eye run to LGA as Flt. 518.

Just my observation. I would fly on Frontier if I have to.

I flew Frontier last summer. I found their seats extremely comfortable, although I could have used a tad more legroom (but couldn't we all on all airlines?) The wrap sandwich was great on one leg and on the other, they gave us a snack pack with oreos and granola bars, etc. All free and all very good. I have also flown on their commuter service which is a perfect match, Frontier and Horizon both being some of my favorite airlines in the world.

Um, one picture is of the back of the seats, and the other is of the front.
