Airport With The Most Flight Number 1s?

Wed Jun 29, 2005 9:30 pm

Just thought I'd compile a list to see which airports have got the most flight number 1s to/from that airport - this is usually the "premium" route for that airline. I'm only counting airlines that fly intercontinental to narrow it down somewhat. Odd that many airlines don't have a #1.

AA 1 JFK-LAX
CO 1 IAH-HNL
NW 1 LAX-NRT
US 1 PHL-LAX
UA 1 ORL-HNL
AMX 1 MEX-MAD
AC 1 NRT-YYZ
AF 1 CDG-JFK (former)
NZ 1 AUK-LHR
BA 1 LHR-JFK (former)
BD 1 GLA-LHR
LY 1 Tel Aviv - JFK
EK 1 DXB-LHR
JAL 1 SFO-NRT
Korean 1 NRT-LAX
MH 1 LHR-KUL
QF 1 SYD-LHR
Singapore 1 SFO-SIN
TK 1 IST-JFK
VS 1 LHR-EWR

1st LHR (6)
2nd JFK (5)
=3rd LAX (4)
=3rd NRT (4)

Please feel free to add/correct routes, subject to the conditions above.

Hate to be pedantic, Geoff, but AF001 was JFK-CDG.

JFK sneaks ahead...

MX001 = JFK-MEX

NRT moves up a notch.

NH001 = IAD-NRT

But LAX catches up...

TN001 = PPT-LAX

Also, for LHR

JM001 = KIN-MBJ-LHR

HNL has a few

CI001 = HNL TPE
UA001 = ORD HNL (not ORL)
CO001 = IAH HNL GUM
HA001 = LAX HNL

NZ 1 AUK-LHR

If EGTESkyGod gets to be pedantic, so can I. AKL not AUK.

Apologies for the mistakes in codes and AF1! Thanks - it was interesting to see which are considered "premium routes".

Question:
What became of PA001 - Panam's round-the-world Clipper? Did UA or DL take over the route? Did it fly both inbound and outbound as PA001?

Thanks in advance.

Does US 2 PIT-LAX still exist?

PA1 was the westbound one, if I remember correctly.

WN 's #1 is DAL-HOU so the city of Houston has two, but split between the airports LOL.

Didn't realise that HNL had so many #1s

Hi

If Flight #1 is the "Premium" route then how come:

LH001 = HAM - FRA

I was under the impression that #1 was the highest volume, highest revenue flight, can this be applied to LH001?

Maybe because it is connecting 2 very big cities in Germany. I know jetBlue Flt # 1 is BUF-JFK-FLL and that is there big routes (JFK-FLL is the real money maker and BUF-JFK is another big money maker). So #1 is normally highest volume and revenue but it can also mean for newer airlines, the first route they started.
