Why kick IB out of oneworld? I know many people on here may think that their service needs improvement but they have a good network especially in latin america. And whats wrong with Air France?

I totally agree with kicking Iberia out of OneWorld.

How about not only saying which one - but why!

For example, I'd kick Varig out of Star, because TAM simply offers a far superior product, domestic and international...

Iberia out of OneWorld, even though I'll be flamed to hell. I totally agree with who has seen that, but I'm waiting for our friends from SPain to counter.
However, their service is slowly improving, and they have a great network, reasons for ONeWorld to keep them.
Why kick SQ out of Star? Their a premium carrier, great part of their alliance in my opinion.
What now?

They're useless.

And what's wrong with SQ in Star?

I don't see what's wrong with SQ in Star... Aren't they one of the world's continuously highest rated carriers?

Aer Lingus are doing fine, why should they stay in oneworld, can someone explain what the average passenger gets out of Aer Lingus being in the oneworld.

Of course everybody may have his own opinion but it would be nice to get an explanation for this, otherwise it is quite useless to post such things.

I'm a little confused as to why anyone would want SQ out of Star alliance...

They are a very good quality carrier (and they own 49% of my employers!!). From what I've heard of both IB and Aer lingus, I would definitely agree with their departure from OneWorld (mind you I'm not exactly fond of my home flag carrier QF either)

I would also vote for RG's departure from Star, they have a truly awful reputation. Also, I'm surprised that no-one has voted UA out of Star (I wouldn't!) as they tend to get bashed as much as Virgin. Both undeservedly in my opinion..

The only reason I can think of for kicking SQ out of Star is the fact that they don't really embrace their membership. They won't even paint the regular Star livery, they have that crappy scheme instead...

What would be the reason for kicking AF out of Skyteam? I've heard that they're service is quite exceptional (not as good as the asian carriers, but better than the domestic carriers) and they have a good network to Europe, N. Africa, and the middle east.

Any opinions...

Why kicking out IB from one world? Sure it needs some improvements to be done but its network and fleet are really ok, I would kick out Aer Lingus before IB.

DL and KAL out of SkyTeam:

DL because their aircraft are a disgrace!

KAL because they have an unfortunate habbit of crashing (mainly due to pilot error last time I checked)

Well I think getting SQ out of Star is not a good idea, from what I have heard they are very good.

For one world, maybe IB can go because I think other all contribute. AA and EI codeshare all flights to Ireland but the only thing is EI will ten to re-book people on DL and not AA. They should keep it in the same alliance.

And for Skyteam, AF is pretty good and contributes. I think they should kick out DL because I don't think they are the best suited for that, they are excellent on their own. The only reason to keep NW is because if you kick them out then KLM lost it's USA connection because I think NW owns KLM. I know at mostly all airports it says NW/KLM (even at LGA)

If I had the option.. I would keep everything the way it is, only merge the Star Alliance and Skyteam Alliances... therefor creating the "World Access" alliance.  Smile  Smile (ok.. maybe we could use a better name.. but you get the drift  Wink )

Bye Bye DL from SkyTeam. You've got CO and NW to hold the slack.

Getting rid of NW, right.... just the body and soul of SkyTeam with NW/KLM plus AF. Sounds like a great idea doesn't it.

SQ, another one, you really want to get rid of the worlds most respected airline! Sure they don't like to embrace membership, but whoop-de-doo, I doubt the Star livery is going to make or break an alliance.

You cannot get rid of IB because of their fleet network

Aer Lingus could go because they are trying to become a LCLF carrier anyway.

Varig is needed in Star because of it's South American prescence.

Maybe Star could lose LOT or Austrian, you have BMI and LH to carry it on, well at least LOT.

Interesting that all alliances does not state how an Airline could be kicked out. I don't know but i think there is no reports on quality and even public ranks for service, overall plane quality and other aspects.

SkyTeam could kick DL and include some South America partner.

I would think the body and soul of SkyTeam would include DL since them and AF started the alliance!

As far as the SkyTeam alliance goes, I would say kick CO out because my dad and I have had nothing but trouble when it comes to getting flights credited to our SkyMiles accounts and for me they completely screwed up a DL/CO itinerary was flying. The CO ticketing agent said that the flight wasn't paid for yet. I was like how can it not be paid for since I already flew half of the itinerary. They then worked on it for an hour and finally gave me my ticket albeit with SSSS written on it. Basically CO's computer systems are not very integrated with the other SkyTeam partners, so I say kick them out. I never had any trouble with NW.

Personal preference, on SQ I've experienced poor service, poor customer help and many more problems!

Also on AF, I just dislike them to any other SkyTeam carrier for taking over KLM!

Really, if the dont join AF-KL, there are plenty of other partners and CDG, AMS, PRG are strong Euro hubs.

I would kick BMI out of star alliance , I belive this because due to their recent but dramatic changes lead me to belive this , Their changes don't fit in with STAR ALLIANCE ,An alliance is about sticking together NO ? Changing to a LCC style service is not , and their airline seems to be heading south . HOWEVER this is only MY PERSONAL opinion And kick Aer Lingus fout of One World for the same reasons. They are both the odd ones out of their alliance and in my opinion , are a dead weight witch must be removed before they start to affect the alliance in general

I thought that these Alliances were originally planned to group together airlines with "similar" service standards, and offer "seamless" service - what you get on one carrier, you get on the others.
Now, I know that all airlines have different service aspects, but some of them vary greatly within the Alliances.
My biggest gripe is about the growing number of airlines within an Alliance that want to reap the benefits of being a member, yet save costs by trying to operate on a LCC basis (ie charging for food and beverages on board). For this reason, I nominate bmi for eviction from Star, Iberia & Aer Lingus from OneWorld. There are probably other culprits as well! Why the other majors in these Alliances even consider code-sharing with another airline that has very little similarity in terms of on-board service baffles me - it can only cause bad feeling to the customer who gets tricked into paying for a flight, thinking that they will receive the same service levels that they get from their preferred carrier.

Much as their decisions are annoying me I'd like to keep them in as I can claim points for my Miles and More FF card - but otherwise I'd be inclined to agree....
