Best Ride On The B722?

Tue Jul 12, 2005 3:25 am

I am flying on a CCP B722 in 3 wks to CUN. Where would be the best place to ride on that bird? I am thinking the left side, window seat about 2 rows infront of the wing would provide the most scenic ride? Isn't the usual ride into rwy 12 at CUN? If so...then I would imagine that comming from the north, sitting on the left side of the aircraft would be my best bet.

Just looking how to maximize this ride. Will probably one of the last 722 rides I'll ever get =]

Haven't been on a 727 in years and years - enjoy it..

Yes, you're right about runway 12. I flew from SEA to CUN via DFW last November. It seems like we flew in a southeast direction over the tip of the Yucatan and over the Caribbean a ways, then turned basically east towards the airport, and circled around to intercept the 12 ILS (presumably). The approach is detailed in the chart, which I just googled:

http://www.sunairexpress.com/tpa/charts/mmun.htm

The left side is best because when you're on the 284 leg of the approach, the hotel zone is just off to the left of the plane.

Hope you have a great trip. I'm going to PEK at the end of the week - first time - plan to write up a trip report.

Thanks rob! I'll be sure to take my aviatior sunglasses aboard to ward off that very bright carribean sunrise =]

So do you intercept it from the north then loop around to the right to catch the ILS or what?

I want to see the most I possibly can.

I will probably sit on the left side. During our morning taxi(im sure to the 17's) the left side shows all the hustle and bustle going on at the terminals.

The right side however will show the airport whiz by on liftoff.

I still remember that DC-10 ride I had a window seat on the right side and it was awsome watching the terminal whiz by.

I would really love to be able to see the most of cancun on approach into it...which would yeild what, the left side?

Hopefully the flight isnt full and I can switch seats =]

Yes, I think left side is best for Cancun. Hopefully your plane has extra seats and you can view right side on departure and left side on approach!

Of course I didn't have my compass  Smile-), but I'd say we were on a 135 path for a while over the northern tip of Yucatan out over the caribbean, then perhaps to 210 until approximately Isla Mujeres, and then to 284, to loop around left on the 12 ILS.

Well actually, Champion is moving over to that new Terminal D. So sitting on the left side with a most likely southern departure, would provide me with the best view the entire flight!!

I would have to glance over to the right side to see the taxi by but come on...its fun watching the rest of DFW fade away.

When you leave CUN make sure to sit on the leftside of the a/c as most departures are from Runway 12, fly runway heading till over the water and then slow northerly turn along the beach till abeam Isla Mujeres and Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Hotel then turn on course toward NNW if you are headed back toward central US area. Great views and most will level off around 2,000' for the beach ride. Enjoy
