Which US Airline Has The Best Club/lounge?

Sat Jul 23, 2005 5:04 am

Yesteday when I was flying DEN - ATL - JAX.. I bought a $50 day pass to the AA Admirals club in DEN. I was originally planning to use it in ATL too for my three hour layover, but turned out DL made us make a fuel stop in TUL so I wasn't able to.  Sad

Anyways-

What do you think is the best US airline club / lounge?

I'm consider asking for a pass book for christmas or something..

anyways- what are your thoughts?

From my experiences and checking out the different clubs (aka going in, looking around, and asking for a brouchure =p) I think AA is one of the best, and DL absolutely sucks... Your thoughts?!?!

On the whole lounges of US carriers suck. Only one of any calibre I've been to is the AA Flagship lounge at LAX

Dude, i visit that lounge everytime I travel on AA and it is fantastic. The Whole Admirals Club in Los Angeles is fantastic. DFW isnt bad either and neither is DEN. I think some of the European carriers lounges suck in my opinion. I think you also have to stop bashing the American Carriers as they are doing the best they can with the money they have. Also I would like to know why the Admirals Club in MIA was voted the best lounge in the world and one of the European ones wasn't.......

They do, but it is easier to generalise with American carriers because on the whole they suck more. Sure not all Europeans are good but at least BA and LH raise the standard a little, whereas for the US that honour is left to errr United? sike.

Think about that for one second. Look who published those results, look at the affiliations of any stakeholders in that publication. There is your answer.

As for money and the service they are providing as a result...I couldn't give a toss. Only bad management and financial issues causes airlines to sink to the pitiful financial situations of US carriers.

So because our airlines for the most part have no government help, and a much more competitive enviroment and dont compare to FC on European carriers (coach is the same on all airlines from what i have experienced) the US carriers lounges must suck.

Kudos for the most dipshit comment.

Not at all, the lounges are just inferior and it happens the product onboard is, on the whole in premium cabins, inferior. The fact these are both bad are completely independent of each other. It wouldn't be too hard for US carriers to change the way their club membership works, although historically they have been different to European carriers, in my opinion, different is worse.

The only time I've had to pay for drinks in an airline lounges they have been those of AA and UA. That is why they are inferior, I also had the rather 'pleasant' experience of being shouted at by the warden in an RCC once becuase she didn't believe I was 21 even with production of ID...

Dude...he's talking about airline lounges. You won't be charged for drinks at IB's VIP lounges (which btw are very nice).

About your statement, I think that most of us already know that IB charges for drinks/food on domestic/european flights shorter than 4 hours. On the other hand, LX has re-established (or will do soon) the "free" meal policy after being taken over by LH.

Isn't that the one half paid for by Qantas.
In general all Qantas lounges are good.

Fbgdavidson, I thought you would have mentioned the BA lounges or aren't they any good.
Why fly non stop when you can connect

I have to agree with the above: the only world class lounge I've experienced in the US is the AA Flagship lounge at LAX which is quite nice, but 50% funded and decisively influenced by QF (No. 2 in best airline rankings - SkyTrax 2005). It is at the standard of many larger regional BA, QF and SQ lounges, but not in the league of the best BA, QF and certainly not CX HKG (in a class of their own).
