Airliner You Which You'd Have Flown In

Thu Jul 28, 2005 6:13 pm

Is there any type of airliner that you wish you had been able to fly in, but are unable to do so now as they are either no longer in the skies, or virtually impossible to find a route they still operate ??

My list would include:

VC-10
IL-62
IL-18
Vickers Vanguard
Boeing 720
Canadair CL44
Tu-104
Tu-114
Tu-144
VFW 614

My list would be quite long. Some of them would be:

Tu-144
Concorde
B707
DC-8
VC-10
B747SP
Dassault-Breguet Mercure

In 1990 I flew ARN-LGW. Two days after my flight, BA sent a Concorde on the daily LGW-ARN-LGW flight to celebrate Gatwick 60 years. I felt really bad that I missed the plane by two days only.

I think, you can find a lot of answers in the second recent poll run on A.net´s frontpage (lower right of the page):

Concorde...........no comment really

MD-11. Still the chance to fly it. Closest airline in London that flies the -11 is KLM, how i can end up on it i'm not sure.

IL-62. Never flown on a Russian bird, would be an interesting experience.

L-1011. Never had the chance.

A320

737-400
737-500

IBERIA747: You would have loved the L1011. Flying F/C in one was truly great.

Highflyer9790

you list is WAAAAAAAAY bigger than mine and you've only been alive like a year more than me ! , I visit American twice a year and fly internally ( in U.K and USA) about once or twice a month ( USA about twice a year) since I was about 1 yrs old ! However you've flown on more aircraft TYPES than me , not sure how many time you've flown ? Plus my god Farther was a BA 742 F/E (I don't wish it to sound like I'm boasting , if I am it is NOT intentional and please accept my apology's )

Happy flying  Smile .

Quoting Wrighbrothers (Reply 16):

I listed how many times ive flown on each type in parenthesis. (but not hours wise) I fly to greece at least once a year, usually through london, and usually twice a year to colorado, plus any extras. when we take a different airline to greece, i get more aircraft types!!

Top of the list, of course, is Concorde.

Then the IL-62. I toured one on static display at an air show, but have never gotten to fly in it.

Also the Caravelle. I wish I could have flown on one of those.

I have flown on the VC-10, which several of you mentioned wanting to fly on. I totally loved it...great airplane!!

I feel lucky also to have taken quite a few flights on the BAC-111. Tremendous kick on takeoff!!!
