Service On Bmi And Aer Lingus? Good Or Bad.

Fri Aug 05, 2005 4:00 am

Now that Aer Lingus have gone down the low-cost road and Bmi doing the same, what is service like on board. Is it value for money or is it a waste of time.
I know that not many of you would have encountered the low-cost service on Bmi yet, seeing as they have just made the transfer.
Whats the food like, is it good or bad?
How much has it cost you on short flights such as one or two hour flights?
And will you continue flying with them?

Last time i was on board EI it was Dub -LHR.

Service was prompt and good value for money(except the Tea's. E1.50????? What the hell is that about!!!!!) My friend got the breakfast for 7 euro.Seemed to be tasty looking and the portions weren't stingy either.

To be honest , this new BMi low cost strategy doesnt bother me too much.I never flew in business class anyway plus their "free food" was never anything special for me.Last time it was a complimentary bacon and omellette wrap which i had to reject anyway because i don't eat pork.I appreciate this Complimentary snack but being the brutally honest person that i am i would buy a tiny fare anyday instead of a standard fare which includes a free snack.Going down the LCC route doesnt bother me in the slightest.
I will continue to fly both carriers.

Thanks for the reply. I have heard the prices on EI are a bit much but the flights overall are cheaper then before. Im flying with them in two weeks LHR-ORK, I hope its a good flight.
Have not tried Bmi in a while and I really should before the summers over.

Go see my trip report at - http://www.airliners.net/discussions/trip_reports/read.main/60568/

I listed the whole Aer Lingus Sky Cafe menu including prices. The Full Irish Breakfast was gorgeous! Service was brilliant. However, read the report  Smile

Trent.
I do quite enjoy a spot of flying - more so when it's not in Economy!

Wow great report!!! I cant believe the price for a panini was €5.00 I always thought it would be a bit cheaper but still, I suppose its very good.
Bmi are still a bit of a mystery, hopefully someone can inform me on the service a bit more.
Thanks for your replies.
